With the arrival of Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077, players are flocking back to Night City in preparation for the release of Phantom Liberty. This update is substantial, bringing changes to various game systems like perks, combat AI, law enforcement, and more.

Among these updates, the overhaul of the perk system stands out as the most significant. Whether you're returning after a hiatus or just starting, here are the first five things to do when you load up Cyberpunk 2077 after installing Update 2.0.

1. Experiment with the Build Creator

Before diving into the game with Update 2.0, take some time to familiarize yourself with the new perk and skill systems. Whether you choose to respec your character or create a new one, you'll need to make decisions regarding attributes and perks. CD PROJEKT RED has provided a helpful tool, the official Build Planner. Visit the Build Planner page to allocate attribute and skill points, allowing you to plan your character's development.

2. Create a New Character or Prepare for Respec

Considering the extensive changes brought by Update 2.0, the developers recommend considering a fresh start with a new character. Doing so will help you adapt to the new perks and enemy AI in preparation for the upcoming release of Phantom Liberty. You can always begin the Phantom Liberty expansion when it launches. Alternatively, if you prefer to continue with an existing character, you'll need to respec them. All your perk points will be automatically refunded due to the new perk system, and you'll have a one-time opportunity to reset your attributes if you wish to create a completely new character build.

3. Visit a Ripperdoc and Complete the "Upgrade U" Quest

After reassigning your perks, you'll receive a call from Viktor regarding cyberware implant updates. Once you've received the Upgrade U quest, visit Viktor or any ripperdoc to have your implants replaced. This will introduce you to the revamped cyberware system, which includes cyberware capacity and determines your armor going forward. It's advisable to acquire the Edgerunner and Renaissance Punk perks to increase your cyberware capacity.

4. Explore Vehicle Combat

Update 2.0 introduces vehicle combat as one of its newest features in Cyberpunk 2077. While driving, you can wield a pistol, submachine gun, or melee weapon and engage in combat alongside or behind your vehicle (but not directly in front of it). You can also use quick hacks against enemies and enemy vehicles while driving. As car chases are expected to become more common in Cyberpunk 2077, and they are likely to be a focal point of Phantom Liberty, it's a good idea to become proficient in vehicle combat. Check out the new perks that enhance your vehicle combat effectiveness and allow for stylish exits.

5. Uncover New Secrets

Update 2.0 introduces "more secrets to be discovered in Night City," as mentioned in the patch notes. Night City was already teeming with unique encounters, characters, and collectibles, and now there are even more hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered. Explore the vast city to uncover these new mysteries.
