AFK Journey Announces New Season Waves of Intrigue

AFK Journey has just recently announced that they are gearing up to release their newest season, [Waves of Intrigue] on September 19, 2024.

This season will be AFK Journey’s second time tacking on the season mechanic, which they have stated they plan to support for years to come. Their first take on the season mechanic surely had its ups and downs, but it is interesting to see if Lilith Games has learned its lesson and how it will approach this new season.

New Scenery

The new season will feature new zones all based around the pirate theme, such as ports, treasure islands, and even some dangerous areas. Below you can see the names and a picture of the currently announced new areas.

Peaks of Time

Peaks of Time is a new feature that will allow players to relieve the story of the [Song of Strife] season and claim all of the abundant map resources, even if they have missed participating in the season.

New World Features

Alongside the new season, players can expect various new world features, such as exploring the seas using ship-themed gameplay. Learning how to sneak up on enemies using new stealth-based gameplay and tackling the difficult science of alchemy.

Harbor Gifts

As with the previous season, Lilith Games will hold a Harbor Gifts log-in event that will reward players with a total of 18 Epic Invite Letters and a Select Hero Chest (Epic) that will allow you to pick from 4 heroes or 2500 Gems!

New Hero Skins

The season will also feature various new skins that players can obtain by either completing the main storyline or participating in events. The champions who are currently set to receive free skins are:

• Rowan
• Marilee
• Sinbad
• Silvina

Additionally, players can also expect to find and get new fashion items as they explore!

New Seasonal Updates

Alongside the new season, players can expect new seasonal stages and new rewards for already existing game modes, such as:

• AFK Challenges
• Legend Trial
• Dream Realm

Faction Talents

The Waves of Intrigue will introduce a new feature known as Faction Talents. This feature will have players go down several Faction Trees to unlock various talents and enhance their heroes’ abilities.

New Season Artifacts

Similar to Song of Strife, the new season will also introduce a whole new set of Season Artifacts. Currently, Lilith Games has revealed images for 10 unique Season Artifacts, and we can’t wait to begin exploring the season and figuring out what they all do!

New Season Progress

Lilith Games is sticking to what they said about wanting each season to be a unique and fresh experience, and as such are sticking to the season progress theme. In this season, players will once again have to build up and work towards a unique Season Progress, that will have them increasing their Season Level, and Season Equipment.

If you’re a fan of AFK Journey’s power progression, you’ll most likely love this, but it is interesting to see if Lilith Games will be able to keep players intrigued enough to keep going until the season’s end.

Season Magic Charms

Magic Charms were a feature that was introduced in the Song of Strife, and they were surely one of the more used features, as they gave a ton of power to your heroes and team overall. In the new season, Lilith Games is planning to bring back the Magic Charms, but this time better, with no randomized stats, new effects, and extra set bonuses!

New Heroes

A gacha game wouldn’t be complete without new heroes, would it? With the new season, Lilith Games has announced that they will be releasing three new Heroes.

• Dunlingr
• Nara (S-Level Graveborn Rogue)
• Sinbad (A-Level Lightbearer Rogue)

There is currently not much information about these three, and we will unfortunately have to wait a bit more until we get official confirmation on their skills.

Heroic Gauntlet

Heroic Gauntlet is a new Season PvE mode where players will have to clear various levels to get rewards. Additionally, players will also have to participate and clear quests to gain points and unlock even more prizes!

New Primal Lords

Primal Lords are an integral part of AFK Journey and a mechanic that gets the whole server working together. Two new Primal Lords will be added alongside the new season, and they are:

• Plague Creeper
• Crazed Shellbrute

Legend’s Return

The new season will also introduce a returner program to AFK Journey, where players returning to Esperia will receive generous rewards through their in-game mail. Additionally, if they complete a series of quests, returners can also earn a massive amount of Invite Letters.

Summary

All in all, the Waves of Intrigue Season looks like it will bring a lot of new content to AFK Journey, and alongside the new Legend’s Return, it might just bring back some of its older players, who had decided to take a break for some time, either due to burnout or simply not having anything to do.

Waves of Intrigue may just be the breath of fresh air that AFK Journey needs, and we’re eager to see how it will perform after its release on September 19, 2024!
