AFK Journey Dev Update - Seasons and What to Expect

After its successful launch earlier this month, AFK Journey finally revealed their plans for the future of the game and how they plan to keep the players engaged and content fresh.

The main way they will be doing this for now is through Seasonal content.

This article will go over all of the information we've received from the developer updates released earlier today.

AFK Journey Developer Update

Earlier today the official X (Twitter) account for AFK Journey released a post in which they shared information about a Developer Updates article for the game, which article shared with us some interesting news about the future of AFK Journey.

The article briefly talked about the Cross-Play features that will be coming with the Hotfix Update on April 11th and gave more information on how they will be updating content for AFK Journey in the future.

The route they have chosen is Seasonal content.

Seasons in AFK Journey

In the Developer Update article, the developers for AFK Journey announced that they will be introducing Seasonal content to AFK Journey with its first iteration being sometime in May 2024.

There is not much information about the seasonal content in AFK Journey in regards to how long a season will last, or what exactly players will be able to do during the seasons, but the developers have shared some hints with us as to what the season will offer and what we can expect.

What to Expect from Seasons in AFK Journey

The developers behind AFK Journey shared that they want to incorporate the Seasonal content with the permanent progression of the game and make a smooth transition between the two that both new and veteran players can enjoy.

The main points to be taken out of their developer notes about the new content coming for the first season of AFK Journey [Song of Strife] are the following:

• Seasonal Progression
  • Seasonal Artifacts
  • Seasonal Equipment
  • Seasonal Resonance Level
  • Seasonal Items
• Updates to existing gameplay modes
• Temporal Nexus - a mode for players who have missed a season but wish to experience it

All in all, the seasonal approach that the developers of AFK Journey have decided to take certainly seems interesting and has been proven in many other games.

There is still not much information about [Song of Strife] as of right now, but we will be sure to update you with everything new that comes out closed to the season's release this May.
