What are Factions in AFK Journey
AFK Journey is the newest game from Lilith Games, the developer mostly known for their idle game AFK Arena.
Given the AFK Journey has taken the AFK Arena IP it has also taken quite some features from that game, factions being one of them.
Factions in AFK Journey are the same as in AFK Arena, so if you have played that game then you will have quite an easy time getting the hang of them here.
AFK Journey has a total of 6 factions:
- Maulers
- Lightbearers
- Wilders
- Graveborn
- Celestial
- Hypogean
Each of these factions has heroes that are tied to it, and if you get enough heroes of a faction in your team you get what is called a Faction Bonus.

Faction Bonus
Faction Bonus is a buff that you get for having a certain number of characters of the same faction on your team.
The more characters of a faction you have, the stronger the buff. This system works the same way as in AFK Arena and the Faction Bonus for AFK Journey is as follows:
- When there are 3/(3+2)/4/5 heroes from the same faction in your team, ATK and HP of all deployed heroes +10%/14%/18%/22%.
- Celestials and Hypogeans can be considered as heroes from any faction when counting Faction Buffs.
- For each Celestial or Hypogean on your team, all deployed heroes' ATK and HP +1%.
Apart from the Faction Bonus there is also a feature called the Faction Strategies.

Faction Strategies
Faction Strategies is a feature that makes it so that certain factions are stronger or weaker to another faction. This works in the same way as elemental weaknesses in many other games and in AFK Journey it has the following effect:
- Increases 15% damage when the target is weak to your faction.
- Decreases 15% damage when the target is strong against your faction.
