After the release of Song of Strife, many AFK Journey players noticed that the rewards for many game modes had been reduced or removed.
This came as a shock to many players who had been playing the game since its release. Having the rewards cut in half for chests in the new season zones or completely removing Gems and Invite Letters from season AFK Stages left a bad taste in a lot of players’ mouths and completely turned others off from playing.
Lilith Games luckily managed to catch onto this quickly and came out with a statement regarding this matter.
In this article, we’ll go over Lilith Games’ response to the controversy and cover the compensation that they have prepared to appease the player base.

What is the Season Controversy?
The season controversy happened after the release of Song of Strife. The new season offered a new set of zones for players to explore, new Legend Trials for players to challenge, and most importantly, new AFK Stages.
However, players soon realized that the rewards offered in these modes were either cut down or completely removed compared to the rewards that they saw in the original versions of these modes. Here is a short list of some things that got changed in Song of Strife:
- Reduced Campaign rewards
- Reduced Open World rewards
- Less value for Packs
- Less value for Noble Pass
- Reduce Growth Path rewards
- Removed Crystals and Invite Letters from AFK Stages
- Drastically reduced Legend Trial rewards
As mentioned, these are some of the issues that players have had since the release of the season, and there are many more places that have reduced the rewards compared to what they were before Song of Strife’s release.
This turned off a ton of F2P players, and a lot of spenders ended up quitting the game. Luckily, Lilith Games was quick to address all of this and has put out a statement detailing what they are doing to combat this controversy.

Controversy Compensation
Today, May 14, Lilith Games released a post across all their social media, addressing the season controversy and expressing their steps going forward. They addressed the issues with the campaign rewards, chest rewards, Corrupt Creature rewards, AFK Stage rewards, and Legend Trial rewards.
It is clear that the team behind AFK Journey has taken the feedback from the players and is working hard to come up with a solution that will be able to please both parties. The current compensation for the season controversy looks like this:
- Diamonds and Invite Letters added to Season AFK Stages
- Season Legend Trial Tower will provide the same rewards as those from the
- Starter Story
- Corrupt Creatures will give better rewards
- Enhanced Battle Drill rewards
- Increase rewards for small and medium chests
You can check out the full notes from the developers about these changes in the note below:
- Season AFK Rewards: Diamond x100 and Invite Letter x1 will be added as stage rewards for the first 1,200 Season AFK Stages. The two rewards will alternate every 5 stages, starting with new rewards on stages 2, 7, 12, 17, etc. Overall, the Season AFK Stages will be more rewarding than those during the Starter Story.
- Season Legend Trial: Every 5 floors, from the 5th floor to the 85th, the rewards in Season Legend Trial will now be replaced with those from the Starter Story. The 4 towers will provide a total of Invite Letter x36, Tidal Essence x360, and Temporal Essence x120 as rewards. Additionally, we're adding the Faction Acorn x10 reward every 10 floors until the 90th floor.
- Season Corrupt Creature: In addition to the current rewards, defeating a Season Corrupt Creature will now reward you with Soulstone (S-Level) x15. Collect 60 Soulstones (S-Level) to obtain a random Epic hero, including those added to the Hero Wish List after their Rate Up Recruitment event has ended.
- Enhanced rewards for Battle Drill: Desolate Grounds. A total of 6 rounds of Battle Drills will be available throughout the entire season.

Closing Remarks
Although the statement by the developers has not addressed all of the issues that players have with the season when it comes to the reduced rewards, they have stated on some of their channels that they are looking at the remaining concerns and are actively working towards coming up with a statement and solution for the issues.
The whole controversy certainly dealt a huge blow to AFK Journey and may have put a slight stop to its growth.
It is interesting to see how the developers will handle the rest of the issues brought up by the players, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated with any new information regarding the topic.
