The developers behind Apex Legends have made it clear that they will not be returning to the old versions of the game's Ranked system. Instead, they are determined to focus on promoting a "playing to win" mindset rather than solely emphasizing getting kills.
During a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on the official Apex Legends subreddit, players inquired about the possibility of reverting the Ranked system to the one used in seasons 7 to 11.
In response, the developers expressed their belief that the previous Ranked system was overly fixated on accumulating kills, and they expressed a desire to design a version that prioritizes winning the overall match.
When a player asked about the future of the Ranked system and whether there were plans to return to the previous format (S7-S11), the developers provided this response: "No, we are going to continue with the current Ranked system at this time. We found that previous systems placed too much emphasis on racking up kills, neglecting the importance of winning the match."
They further explained, "Our goal is to emphasize playing to win, and we believe the direction we are currently pursuing aligns with that objective. While the current system may not be perfect, we will keep refining it to achieve our goal of putting the focus on winning the match."
The reaction to this decision varied, with some players expressing disappointment, as they were concerned about the rise of "ratting," where players hide to survive for as long as possible. On the other hand, some players welcomed the change, stating that they agreed with the new direction but acknowledged the need for further adjustments.
As the new season approaches, players are eagerly anticipating the implementation of the updated Ranked system, hoping it will meet their expectations. Stay informed on the latest updates in Esports, Gaming, and more by subscribing to our newsletter.
