The Apex Legends Final Fantasy 7 Takeover event adds materia, a ton of unique new skins inspired by the FF7 universe, and even a new melee weapon, the 'Buster Sword R2R5.'

The R2R5 isn't some mere cosmetic, boasting immense melee power unlikely anything the Apex Games have seen before. The Buster Sword allows you to block to reduce damage taken, alternate between light and heavy attack swings, and even gives you a 'dash' ability to help close the gap between you and your quarry. So, how do you get it?

Note: The details about the Buster Sword R2R5 are based on leaks and have not been confirmed by Respawn Entertainment.

Getting your hands on a Buster Sword R2R5 is mostly dumb luck. Buster Swords are part of the  ground loot pool, so you might just stumble across one off drop. If you're not so lucky, the Buster Sword R2R5 can also be found in Care Packages or the old-fashioned way...that is, prying it from the cold, dead hands of your rivals.

The Buster Sword R5 is a purely melee cosmetic Buster Sword skin, and can be obtained via opening event packs associated with the Final Fantasy 7 Takeover event, the same as all other 36 cosmetic items available during the event. The Buster Sword R5 can be equipped in place of your heirloom or fists, and offers no actual combat bonuses besides style points.

However, be warned, the Buster Sword R5 will not be added to the Mythic Shop after the FF7 event ends, meaning you must acquire it while the event packs are available!
