Weapon Changes in Apex Legends

Some of the most impactful updates in Apex Legends patches often relate to weapon balance. This time, a few guns saw damage adjustments:

R99 SMG

The R99 SMG had its damage reduced from 12 to 11. This subtle change could push the R99 out of favor compared to alternatives.

CAR SMG

CAR SMG also took a damage nerf, from 13 down to 12. It remains to be seen how much this impacts the CAR's viability.

Mastiff

The Mastiff shotgun received several buffs - faster reload times, quicker draw time, etc. This could help the Mastiff compete with the other weapons a bit more.

  • Tactical reload time reduced to 0.9 (was 1.03)
  • Empty reload time reduced to 1.6 (was 1.7)
  • Draw Time reduced to 0.45 (was 0.8)

Additionally, the R-301 rifle and Volt SMG are returning to floor loot after being removed from the crafter. In their place, the Hemlok and Alternator will now require crafting to obtain.

Her ability pierce spikes is tweaked - the spikes now require line-of-sight to activate. 

  • Piercing Spikes
    • Now require line-of-sight to an enemy player to activate
    • Spikes that have not been activated will still slow players

Horizon

Improved Horizon audio to make “falls” less silent

  • Hard landing audio adjusted to match other legends
  • Soft Landings now play audio in the world 
  • Gravity Lift exit audio range increased to make it easier to hear characters who exit

Newcastle

  • Castle Wall: impact will now destroy Conduit’s Energy Barricade mines
  • Mobile Shield: can now be destroyed by enemy Crypto EMP
  • Delayed balance adjustments from the season 19.0 patch are now fully integrated

Rampart

 

Rampart's Amped Walls got a nice boost - they are no longer destroyed by friendly Crypto EMP blasts or Maggie's Wrecking Ball. This should help Rampart set up more reliability.
