Starting on October 31, free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends will introduce cross-progression as part of its 19th season. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, this feature will allow players to access their progression data, in-game cosmetics, and currency via a single EA account, regardless of the platform they use. Here's a breakdown of how cross-progression account merging will work.

How Will Cross-progression Work in Apex Legends?

  • Progress Levels Merge: If you have different progress levels on various platforms, these will be consolidated into a single account. Respawn will create this new account based on the player's "primarily platform," which is the one where they have achieved the highest level. The stats and progress from all other accounts will be lost.

  • Cosmetic Content and Currency: Most cosmetic items and premium currency earned across different platforms will be combined into this new single account. However, there are exceptions. Apex Coins acquired on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC will merge into a single wallet, but those earned on the Nintendo Switch will remain exclusive to that platform.

  • Cosmetics Access: All acquired cosmetic content, including unlocked Legends, will be accessible on all platforms. Still, there will be a few exceptions. Cosmetics exclusive to a particular platform will remain exclusive, and players can only access them on that specific platform.

  • What Will Be Lost?: During the cross-progression process, some content related to specific stats may become inaccessible. This will occur if the content is associated with an account that is not considered the primary one when merging multiple accounts. Additional exceptions resulting from the merging process are described in Respawn's blog post.

With the launch of Apex Legends Season 19, titled Ignite, players can look forward to the introduction of a new hero named Conduit, map changes, and more exciting additions. Be sure to check out the details elsewhere on Eurogamer for a comprehensive overview of what's coming in the new season.
