One of the highlights of the update is going to be the new Legend upgrade system, which will allow you to modify your abilities during the match, providing you with a lot of opportunities for situational playmaking and improvisation. In Season 20 of Apex Legends, Respawn is going to be making one of the biggest changes to the game since its launch back in 2019. During matches, you are going to be able to level up your Legend, choosing between different modifiers for their abilities. The base abilities of all Legends are going to remain the same, and these upgrades can only be done during the matches themselves, so you will be able to make dynamic choices based on your current situation.

This upgrade system will be using the Evo Armor mechanic, meaning your Legend will level up based on a few different things, such as dealing damage, exploring the environment, as well as from Evo harvesters. Visual indicators will also be added to the model of the Legend, meaning that you will be able to tell what kind of upgrade your enemy has chosen.

You are likely to find yourself upgrading your abilities during the early and mid-game portions of the match, with some modifiers such as Wattson placing multiple ultimates at the same time or being able to revive your allies with more health than usual. You will be able to make two upgrade choices, at Level 2 and 3, and the aim is for none of them to be a straight buff to your Legend, making them more situational.

That is everything you need to know about the new Legend upgrade system that is going to be added to Apex Legends at the launch of Season 20. This is one of the biggest changes to the core gameplay since the game released, and we hope that it will bring a lot of new and fun interactions to the game.
