Astro, which welcomed millions of PlayStation 5 users when first booting the console, is getting its own game, titled Astro Bot, which is set to release on September 6, 2024. This week, the studio behind the title, Team Asobi, launched a reveal trailer for the upcoming game. With the new release, the company seeks to answer community feedback that instantly made them friends with Astro.

PS5 owners are surely quite familiar with Astro and its adventures. The little robot was used by Sony to introduce players to the 25 years of PlayStation history and get them familiar with the brand-new PS5 controller. Titled Astro's Playroom, the game was specifically designed for the launch of the console in 2020.

The brand-new trailer from Team Asobi kicks off with our beloved Astro knocked down in the desert among some significant wreckage. However, he is quickly woken by a little PS5-themed fox, and Astro loses no time as he calls for help from a flying PS5 controller, which takes the little protagonist on a space adventure.

The trailer then shows off how we ride on top of the modified controller, nicknamed Dual Speeder, while gliding through various worlds, searching for the bot’s lost crew. According to Asobi, with the new game, players will be able to explore six galaxies and over 80 levels in pursuit of the quest of getting the band back together.

But that is far from all, as the game developer has also revealed that Astro will be able to take advantage of 15 new abilities, allowing players to get the complete Dual Sense experience. Some other new features include Barkster and the Bulldog Booster, which lets players air-dash and cut through enemies and structures. Meanwhile, the Twin-Frog Gloves provide the ability to deliver punches from far away, and the Giant Sponge lets participants water the playing field, wreaking havoc along the way.

Enemies Grow Stronger

But with the new worlds, there are also more enemies on the way. Astro Bot will feature over 70 new types of hostels, along with some more challenging bosses at the end of each galaxy. One of them, Lady Venomara, which can be seen in the trailer, will await players in her den. By conquering bosses, players will unlock some spicy secrets, but it is too early to reveal them now.
