Attack on Titan has become a global phenomenon, reaching audiences from all around the world and becoming a fan-favorite for people both in and out of the anime-watching community. Attack on Titan's unique and complex story has been loved both as Hajime Isayama's original manga and as the later animated adaptation. Although the manga ended three years ago, fans are still excited for more updates and possible upcoming projects, which we will discuss in detail below.

What’s more, on September 9, 2024, AOT celebrates 15 years since the beginning of the manga. To celebrate this huge milestone, Shingeki FLY's X account announced an official upcoming project. Find out more about it here.

The project was first announced on September 2 this year with no further details. As soon as the news spread, fans started theorizing about what it might be. Guesses varied from an OVA on Hange's background and AOT: Junior High Season 2 to an AOT prequel, and so on. However, the real project has now been revealed, and it seems that fans find it disappointing.

The new Attack on Titan project, set to release on November 6, is a special edition magazine in the same size as the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, which is where the manga was originally published. The magazine will include selected moments from the official 139 chapters of the manga, chosen by the people involved in the project. However, fans have the chance to choose their favorite episode/chapter of Attack on Titan in an online poll on "Magapoke." The one with the most votes will also be published.

Although having a new project for a completed manga is always good news, fans' higher expectations and hopes for additional content left many feeling let down and somewhat misled by the announcement.
