Earning the trust and loyalty of an Ikran, the pterodactyl-like creatures of Pandora's highest cliffs, is considered a rite of passage in Na'vi warrior culture. Once tamed, the Ikran become bonded with their rider for life. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you will unlock your very own Ikran companion, as well as options to customize, rename, and even feed your new best friend. Let's cover everything you need to know!

Unlocking Your Ikran:
To unlock your Ikran mount, you must complete the 11th quest in the main story quest chain, 'Take Flight.' This quest will take you to the highest heights of 'The Rookery' where you must prove yourself before your chosen Ikran will accept you for its rider.
Expect a challenge when taming your Ikran! The journey to The Rookery is likely to be perilous on its own, let alone the act of actually taming the mountain banshee itself.

Flying Travel and Combat:
As soon as you have your own Ikran, the skies of Pandora are yours. The vast open world in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is designed with flying travel in mind, meaning plenty of locations that you can only explore via flight.
The Ikran appear capable of stunning aerial acrobatics during travel, including gut-clenching dives and barrel rolls. These stunts and more should keep flying travel exciting, as well as offer key tools for avoiding enemy fire in the midst of combat.
Your Ikran will assist you in combat against the airborne machinery of the RDA, evading enemy fire, getting you into range, and holding steady while you take aim with either your bow or human firearms.

Customizing Your Ikran:
Every Ikran needs a name! Yours is no different. Will you be using an online Avatar name generator, or naming your loyal steed after your first pet?
After naming your Ikran, you will get the option to further customize your mount. Altering the base colour of your Ikran will almost certainly be an option. You may also be able to customize your Ikran's skin patterns or war paint. You might even be able to customize saddles, reins, and barding, though this is as yet unconfirmed.
You can feed your Ikran, too! Doing so replenishes your companions' health and stamina, so make sure to keep your treat bag full!
