Among the genres of Manhwa, action is one of the most famous ones and there are many great works that have come out during the years, some completed, some on-going. It wouldn’t be a best action manhwa list if we didn’t mention the most popular of them all, and by that we mean, Solo Leveling.

Solo Leveling, or otherwise known as Only I Level Up, is a korean novel, which eventually got picked up and drawn in Manhwa style. The Manhwa for Solo Leveling released back in March of 2018 and took the world by storm, with its amazing story and artstyle.

Following the adventure of Sung Jinwoo, we are thrust into a world of monsters that invade Earth through Gates. In this world, humans have supernatural abilities that allow them to fight these monsters and climb up the Hunter ranks to earn glory and riches for themselves.

After its release Solo Leveling became a must read for any Manga and Manhwa fan. The sheer beauty in its fighting choreography and the attention to detail that was brought to the manhwa is certainly one that will make people come back to re-read it years later.

Omniscient Reader

Another great pick when it comes to Manhwa is Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.

This story takes us on an adventure with Kim Dokja, an ordinary salary man, who one day gets thrust into a game of life and death when coming home from work. The story, similar to Solo Leveling, features a ton of game-like elements and is filled with dark and mysterious themes, while also introducing comedy in places.

The character progression and growth that Kim Dokja experiences in Omniscient Reader is greatly paced, making readers want more with each chapter. Although slightly weaker in the beginning, Kim Dokja grows up to be a force to be rivaled with, and certainly knows how to keep the readers on the edge of their seats.

Tower of God

Now what action manhwa recommendation list would this be without Tower of God? Tower of God is one of the classics of Manhwa and is a series that is still releasing even to this day. It has survived through the years, and is now closing in on its 14 year anniversary since its release back in July of 2010.

Tower of God follows Twenty-Fifth Bam as he ascends the floors of the [Tower] in the hopes of finding his friend Rachel. Tower of God is a story filled with lots of action, lots of unique abilities, a deep and complex world with tons of mysteries to uncover and theories to theorycraft.

With its 600+ chapters, Tower of God is sure to keep you occupied for some time, however, thanks to the interesting characters, story, and amazing art style that has only gotten better throughout the years, you will find it hard to let this one down!

Latna Saga: Survival of a Sword King

Now that we have covered three fairly known and long running Action Manhwa, it’s time we turn our eyes to some newer releases that have been making a name for themselves in the Manhwa rankings and have stolen the attention of numerous readers.

One of these Manhwa is Latna Saga. Latna Saga is a story that revolves around Hanbin Ryu. After being discharged from the military Hanbin Ryu finds himself teleported to another world that offers a game-like level up system. However, unfortunately for Hanbin Ryu, his system is broken leading him to spend a long time in a hell-like place, defeating demons. Hanbin Ryu eventually manages to escape, and finds that he’s gotten tremendously overpowered for the world that he’s in.

Latna Saga is a joy to read and is always leaving you with cliffhangers basically forcing you to read the next chapter.

The World After the Fall

The final, but definitely not the worst, Manhwa we have on our action list is, The World After the Fall.

The World After the Fall is a story based on a novel written by the creator of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.

Although the novel for The World After the Fall was written before Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, and some argue that it is slightly worse, it still does well in offering a beautifully written paradox of time traveling.

The story follows Jaehwan who despite being offered the choice to go back in time, he decided to stay and fight his way to reveal a number of mysteries. The story is packed with plot twists, and although there aren’t that many chapters out as of yet, the ones that are there will keep you busy for a while!
