BG3 Community Update 29 - Modding Tool & Highlights

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 was huge and game-changing. It didn't only bring more evil endings to the story, but it also introduced a modding toolkit that brought in (and back) quite an audience to BG3. Today the recent two hotfixes were launched for consoles and Mac as well! It seems like this award-winning masterpiece is still going strong and Community Update 29 proves that, here are the highlights:

Popular Mods

We already mentioned that the modding tool is the new big thing in BG3 (the old one being Halsin). This feature gave players the ability to customize their games way more easily and reliably. Larian Studios took a moment to highlight the standout mods:

• Adjustable Party Limit by PixellBytes: Allows players to increase their party size, bringing along more companions on their journey.
• ImpUI by Djmr: A crucial mod for improving the user interface, specifically during character creation.
• FaerunColors by TechRoot: Adds over 80 dye options representing various deities and entities from the Faerun world, letting players customize their characters’ outfits.
• UnlockLevelCurve by Dustbag: Extends the level cap from 12 to 20, allowing for more advanced character progression and multiclassing options.

A lot of BG3 players are already familiar with these mods but it's good to know they're supported better by the game now.

Mods on Console and Mac

While the modding toolkit remains exclusive to PC, Mac and console players can also use a selection of community mods. Larian Studios informed the readers that around 60 mods have passed testing and are available to download.

Troubleshooting and Mod Support

Although the tool is created to make mods better, some BG3 players might run into crashes or glitches, especially while using 3rd party enhancements. Don't worry if you do - just troubleshoot by disabling mods to identify the source of the issue. While Larian Studios cannot provide direct support for community-made mods, they encourage players to report any problematic mods that violate guidelines.

Looking Ahead

Patch 7 brings much more than just modding. In addition to future plans for crossplay and a photo mode, the patch also includes bug fixes through Hotfixes #26 and #27, which are live on all platforms.
