Major Changes to Sailing, Dekhia's Lantern & More

Sailing Updates

When embarking on a nautical voyage into the Great Ocean, we felt some terrain markers were missing to make for a more enjoyable sea adventure. Hence we implemented the deep water terrain in the Great Ocean that will keep your ship moving at its original speed. We also added the Oquilla Current which will increase the speed of your vessel and also be displayed in the terrain information.

  • Changed the terrain information displayed on the upper right-hand corner of the minimap to differentiate between shallow water and deep water when sailing in the Great Ocean (Margoria).
  • Improved ships to maintain their original speed when sailing in deep water terrain in the Great Ocean.
  • Changed certain sea terrain in the Great Ocean to be displayed as Oquilla Current.
  • Ships sailing in the Oquilla Current will move at greater speeds as before.
Improved the descriptions of terrain displayed on the upper left-hand corner of the minimap for when your character is submerged, and added deep water and ocean current terrain.

The improvements will make sea travel much faster, especially when sailing near Oquilla. Sea travel in the ocean used to be a struggle sometimes depending on the currents and the breeze but with the new buffs the time for travel should be much shorter.

Disembark

  • Added the Disembark function.
  • Any adventurer atop a ship will be able to see and press the Disembark button to instantly teleport on land as long as there's a wharf manager nearby.
  • If you're on the wheel, you will need to press the Disembark button once to take you off the wheel, and press it again to move to the wharf manager.
  • The Disembark button has a 5 sec cooldown.
  • You can set this button to a hotkey via Settings → Interface Settings → UI Hotkeys.
    * Disembark can be registered and used via the ring menu for gamepad UI mode.

TIP!: If you've taken out a ship, you can LMB the anchor-shaped icon on the upper left-hand portion of your screen to board your vessel nearby.

A huge quality of life changes for the better. This will help getting off the ship and prevent getting stuck on other players' vessels. We have had the embark function for quite some time now, which helped a lot with taking control of your own ship when many others were in the way. Now we will be able to instantly move in and out of the ship with ease and no obstacles.

Maids/Butlers in Atoraxxion & Pit of the Undying

We've made it so you can now employ the services of your maids and butlers within Atoraxxion and the Pit of the Undying. You can now transfer meals, elixirs, exchangeable items, and others from your storage/Central Market warehouse within these instances as you please.

  • Improved so you can now use storage/transaction maids/butlers within Atoraxxion.
  • If you've completed the Abyss One: The Magnus content, you'll be able to access storage of other regions as well.
  • Improved so you can now use storage/transaction maids/butlers within the Pit of the Undying.
  • If you've completed the Abyss One: The Magnus content, you'll be able to access storage of other regions as well.

Storage and market transactions will now be possible in Atoraxxion and Pit of the Undying. This has been requested multiple times and now players will be able to access potions and other buffs in both dungeons.

Dehkia's Lantern

We've dealt with the case where monsters affected by Dehkia's Lantern would continue to linger in the field. This led to reducing the range of the lantern's effects, but we've maintained the range of unsummoning the lantern so you can still recover any remaining loot and items as before. We also changed some of the lantern spots for Ash Forest and Olun's Valley away from other adventurers without lanterns just like those in Tunkuta and Thornwood Forest. Last but not least, we also reduced the lantern's cooldown so you no longer have to wait as long to reuse it.

  • Improved Dehkia's Lantern so monsters affected by the lantern's effect will no longer continue to linger in the field even after you've dismissed the lantern's summon.
  • Reduced the range of the lantern's effects by 60%.
  • The range of unsummoning Dehkia's Lantern remains the same at 100m.

Monster lingering has been fixed. Cooldown is reduced to 1 minute. Ash Forest and Olun’s Valley monsters have been rearranged so that players without lanterns do not overlap with lantern players.

  • Cooldown reduced from 5 minutes to 1 minute

With slightly reduced DP, the monsters spawning in Cyclops Land and Thornwood Forest affected by Dehkia's Lantern will be somewhat easier to defeat. We've also unified the debuff applied by these monsters, which we hope will encourage many more adventurers to utilize the lantern in their PvE adventures. However, we felt the profits gained from using the lantern at Thornwood Forest was comparably higher compared to the other monster zones, so we made some tweaks to the drop rate of artifact items and Agris Fever point consumption. Such is how we've changed some of the Eye of Despair's conditions for summoning monsters. We also removed any Invincibility-applied motions for Khalk so it wouldn't interrupt the Eye of Despair when summoning monsters.

[Dehkia's Lantern] Cyclops Land

The monsters spawning in Cyclops Land and Thornwood Forest affected by Dehkia's Lantern will be somewhat easier to defeat. Tweaks to the drop rate of artefact items and Agris Fever point consumption have been made to balance the profits gained from using Dehkia’s lantern.

[Dehkia's Lantern] Thornwood Forest

Slightly reduced the DP of spawned monsters. Changed the following monsters' hits to now only apply the Knockback debuff:

Affected Monsters

[Void Possessed] Bloodthirsty Khalk [Void Possessed] Khalk of Darkness, [Void Tainted Elite] Ahib Salun Bear Spearmaiden, [Void Tainted Elite] Ahib Salun Wolf Spearmaiden, [Void Tainted] Ahib Dark Chaser, [Void Tainted] Ahib Condemner, [Void Tainted] Ahib Dark Champion, [Void Tainted] Ahib Dark Mage

  • Improved the [Corrupt Voidtouched] Eye of Despair to now recover health during combat.
  • Greatly reduced the drop rate of Marsh's Artifacts - Magic/Ranged/Melee Accuracy when defeating the following monsters:
  • Ahib Beast Trainer, Ahib Dark Chaser, Ahib Condemner, Ahib Dark Mage, Ahib Dark Sorcerer, Bloodthirsty Khalk, Khalk of Darkness
  • Removed the Invincibility buff during the animations for when [Void Possessed] Bloodthirsty Khalk and [Void Possessed] Khalk of Darkness detected the adventurer.
  • Increased the detection range of [Void Possessed] Bloodthirsty Khalk and [Void Possessed] Khalk of Darkness by 1.25 times.

[Dehkia's Lantern] Ash Forest

We've changed Ash Forest to now have designated spots where you can use Dehkia's Lantern. We've also implemented the aforementioned change of unifying the debuffs applied by monsters on hit, thus slightly reducing the danger of these zones. In addition, whereas other monsters wouldn't spawn until you defeated Volkras' split entities, we've made it so that Volkras will no longer split, but spawn many more monsters at the beginning of combat so you can gain greater amounts of loot on average.

  • Changed this zone to now have designated lantern spots.
  • Use Dehkia's Lantern near [Sealed] Rift Seed to summon forth [Voidtouched] Rift Seeds.

Analysis

Class balance was absent from this week's patch notes because of the Asian Siege championship. Pearl Abyss decided to delay all class changes to korean servers and release them after the first patch of november. We expect to see global lab changes come to EU/NA servers around the second week of November. Many PvE buffs are expected to come which is a continuation of the dedication of Pearl Abyss to constantly improve and equalise classes in PvE.
