BlizzCon 2023: Opening Ceremony and Key Reveals

BlizzCon 2023 has returned after a 4-year hiatus, offering two days of excitement until November 4th. Blizzard Entertainment pledges significant reveals, exclusive Diablo announcements, and intriguing panel discussions about WoW and Overwatch, sharing these special moments with fans worldwide.

Mauga Announcement

Art director Dion Rogers unveiled the previously leaked hero, Mauga, describing his playstyle as both brutal and cunning. Mauga stands as the game's first Samoan character. More details about him will be disclosed later during the Con, despite fans being already familiar with him—an aspect Rogers humorously addressed in his speech. Learn more here.

PvP Game Mode Clash & Special Location

Players can look forward to the new PvP mode Clash next year, known for its five-point capture gameplay. Clash will showcase a map paying tribute to a beloved original Overwatch location. The returning Hanamura will now be known as 'Hanaoka' in this mode.

New Upcoming Heores

In 2024 Overwatch will introduce us to three new characters. Thanks to BlizzCon we met two of them - Venture, damage hero, and the "Space Ranger", support hero.

Competitive Play Rework

The Overwatch Competitive play system will undergo a rework, introducing new rewards. Upcoming themes will include Eldritch horror, Egyptian mythology, witches, and a universe where 'heroes become villains and villains become heroes.

First Expansion Pack: Vessel of Hatred

Vessek of Hatred Expansion

Tiffany Wat and Chris Wilson announced Diablo 4's first expansion, 'Vessel of Hatred', expected to arrive in late 2024, featuring a journey to the jungle of Nohantu and a battle against Mephisto. The expansion will also introduce a new class universe. Learn more about it here.

Holiday Event - Midwinter Blight

Diablo 4 is unveiling its first Holiday event, 'Midwinter Blight,' commencing on December 12th for a three-week duration.

The Gauntlet

'The Gauntlet,' an upcoming challenge with a leaderboard, will soon be introduced, offering recognition in the Seasonal Hall of the Ancients for top performers.

Class Specific Rings

Next week Diablo will give players five unique class-specific rings, offering a reminiscent experience from Season of the Malignant.

Abattoir of Zir

On December 12th, 'Abattoir of Zir,' a highly replayable six-week end-game event, will be accessible to players who have reached Level 100, conquered Uber Duriel, and mastered all challenges from Season of Blood.

> World of Warcraft Classic

 

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic

Blizzard invites us to experience a new age of Cataclysm, as the road to Deathwing's destruction is coming in the first half of 2024. The initial level cap will be 25 and players will discover a new 10-player Blackfathom Depths raid with exciting mechanics and rewards. Following this, there will be an increase in the level cap after a few months, introducing new endgame content.

Season of Discovery

>World of Warcraft

WoW stole the show, unveiling not only the upcoming expansion 'The War Within' but also providing a glimpse of the next two expansions. Chris Metzen took the stage to present the comprehensive 'roadmap' for the next several years of the World of Warcraft saga, which he dubbed 'Worldsoul'. Learn more here.

World of Warcraft: The War Within

The tenth expansion will take us to the heart of Azeroth itself, where we will meet the Earthen and the Nerubians. More information about the expansion can be found here.

World of Warcraft: Midnight

In the second expansion, we'll venture into the ancient lands, notably Quel'Thalas. The forces of the Void have launched an invasion on the elven kingdom, targeting the Lightwell. Players must rally the elven tribes to combat the encroaching forces of the Void, preventing the world from falling into darkness and terror.

World of Warcraft: The Last Titan

This expansion, announced at BlizzCon today, marks the conclusion of the 'Worldsoul' saga. The new installment will center on revisiting Northrend and the beloved Ulduar raid. Players will engage with the Titans and unveil a mystery that spans the entire history of Warcraft.

Showdown in the Badlands

Heartstone also announced a new expansion and shared a fun trailer with the audience. Soon we'll learn the origin story for characters Reno Jackson and Elise Starseeker, in a setting which is Azeroth’s version of the Wild West. Check out our full article on the topic here.

Catch-up Packs

This new type of card pack will contain huge sets of up to 50 cards per pack from the most recent 2 years of Hearthstone. This is an ideal way for players to catch up to their friends.

Duo Battlegrounds Mode

Battlegrounds will no longer be single player, introducing a new cooperative playstyle which allows you to queue as a team! Players will share health pools and will be able to send cards to each other. Duo Battlegrounds are set to go live sometime in the early months of 2024.

>Warcraft Rumble

Executive producer Vik Saraf officially announced the release of WarCraft Rumble. The action-strategy combat mobile game, set in Azeroth, is currently available in the iOS App Store and GooglePlay for Android. Learn more about it here.
