Bandai Namco Online, the publisher behind the anticipated MMORPG Blue Protocol, announced that the game would be shutting down its servers in January 2025.
The news was revealed yesterday and came as a shock to the Western players who were looking forward to Amazon Games publishing the game in the West.

What is Blue Protocol
Blue Protocol is a Japanese MMORPG developed by Bandai Namco Online. The game was first released in Japan in June 2023 and was later promised to be brought to the West by the publisher, Amazon Games.
The game is an action-packed MMORPG that features several classes, a huge open world, and dynamic combat that allows players to aim their attacks and dodge enemy advances.

On August 28, 2024, the official media pages for Blue Protocol put out a statement that the game would be closing off its servers on January 18, 2025.

We regret to inform you that the Japanese version of Blue Protocol will be discontinued on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
As a result, we have also canceled our plans to release a Western version of the game in collaboration with Amazon Games. We have enjoyed a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocol, and both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the game to players around the world.
We know there has been great anticipation for Blue Protocol since the first announcement of the game. We wanted to deliver an experience that is like stepping into the world of anime, and we have been challenging ourselves to create a world where each and every player can enjoy adventures as the main character of the anime. We have worked hard to prepare for the release; however, we have come to the conclusion that it will not be possible to provide a service that satisfies all of you.
We deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.

The game was going through a rough time due to the various delays to the west and a mediocre reception from the Japanese player base, but no one had expected such a sudden announcement.
