With the Dragon's Dogma 2 release coming on March 22, we will look at Capcom's outlook on the fast travel system and how they intend to improve upon the problems they see in other games. Most open-world games have unlimited fast travel to help traverse long distances but developers behind Dragon's Dogma 2 have said there will be limitations.
Being able to teleport across the map is an ability RPG players have become accustomed to. Some speculate that fast travel systems reduce content in RPG games. If you make fast traveling too hard, you risk boring the player, but if you make it too easy, you risk trivializing the world you have built.
Fast Travel in Dragon's Dogma 2
Director of Dragon's Dogma 2 Hideaki Itsuno, weighed in on the subject.
Just give it a try. Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring. All you have to do is make travel fun. That's why you place things in the right location for players to discover, or come up with enemy appearance methods that create different experiences each time, or force players into blind situations where they don't know whether it's safe or not ten meters in front of them.
-Hideaki Itsuno
In Dragon's Dogma 2, it won't be impossible to fast travel but by placing limitations, Capcom is encouraging us to experience the world they have built. They have stated that they have put a lot of work into designing a game where random interactions will be more common.
It seems their opinion is that fast travel is usually compensating for boring travel mechanics! As long as they stick to their promises and make this game exciting to travel normally, most gamers won't have a problem.

How to Fast Travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
As we have mentioned above, there will be limitations in Dragon's Dogma 2 when it comes to fast traveling. Capcom will use the feature but aim to change it from being the first option.
There are two ways you can use fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2. The first is the use of Ferrystones. These items are expensive and rare but will allow you to teleport to Port Crystals. This is the more conventional way of fast traveling, given you can buy or find the Ferrystones. The first game in the Dragon's Dogma franchise has the same system.
The second option will be a new addition to the franchise. Capcom has introduced an unsafe fast travel method, called Oxcarts. These are cheaper options and only move along specific routes. Also, enemies can attack these carriages at any moment.
While riding one, you might find the path blocked by goblins and have no choice but to get off and join the battle. Then as you do, a Griffin might swoop in and destroy the entire cart with one blow, forcing you to walk the rest of the way while cursing its name.

While you fast travel using an Oxcart, the world is moving and Capcom has designed a world where you are not safe, no matter what you doing. This will add a lot of realism to the fantasy game, not to mention keep players on their toes.
Despite what you think on the topic, I'm sure you are eager to see what Dragon's Dogma 2 has in store for us. That concludes everything we know about the fast travel system. We will have to see if it is effective on March 22 when Capcom releases Dragon's Dogma 2.
