Diablo 4's The Pit of Artificers debuted at the start of Season 4, introducing an all-new challenge for the endgame with 200 accessible tiers. Tier 1 has Level 100 monsters, similar to Tier 45 Nightmare Dungeons.

Despite providing a fun and interesting challenge, The Pit has had its flaws. Fortunately, the patch notes for the 1.4.2 release demonstrate that Blizzard devs have taken user concerns seriously.

A Blizzard Forums post stated that Diablo 4 Patch 1.4.2 will be released during the week of June 10, although no exact date or time has been disclosed.

The patch will bring a slew of adjustments to The Pit, including a higher possibility of earning a Stygian Stone after completing the challenge. At Tier 1, the likelihood of obtaining the resource increases to 5%, whereas at Pit Tier 200, it jumps to 30%.

Bosses in The Pit will receive a variety of balance changes, some of which may affect the damage of their abilities and affixes. For example, developers intend to raise the cooldown on the Blood Bishop triple Shadow Line monster affix, which will now be found in Tier 31.

Furthermore, after the update is released, the current Mother's Blessing event will receive an XP nerf and a gold buff, with XP and gold going from 35% to 25% and 50% respectively.

  • Tier 1: 5%
  • Tier 40: 10%
  • Tier 100: 18%
  • Tier 200: 30%

The following adjustments have been made to bosses in The Pit:

  • The damage of boss powers and boss affixes has been adjusted to align with the dungeon's difficulty leading up to the fight.
  • The frequency of boss affixes has been reduced so they don’t overlap.
  • The Tomb Lord Bone Wall boss affix now starts appearing from Pit tier 1 with a slightly reduced ability cooldown.
  • The Blood Bishop triple Shadow Line boss affix now starts appearing from Pit Tier 31 and now has a moderately increased cooldown.
  • The Airidah Wind Vortex boss affix has been reduced to last 6 seconds, down from 8 seconds.

The selection for Pit Tier will now default to the last completed Tier instead of the highest available Tier.

General

  • Tempering Manuals on the ground now have their tooltip name reduced to start with “Manual” to distinguish what the item is quickly.
  • Duplicate or obsolete Tempering Manuals, manuals the player has already unlocked or has a higher rarity version of, will no longer drop.
  • Completing the Capstone Dungeon will now grant a Nightmare Dungeon Sigil.

Blizzard also mentioned a ton of bug fixes which included gameplay, accessibility, and more.
