In a post made on the "Not Finding A Cow Level" Discord server, Grampajoe shared their find – a "Musty Tome" that dropped from a cow with a red curse effect. This event ignited excitement within the community since it could potentially be a pivotal piece in unraveling the secret cow level, reminiscent of those in Diablo 2 and 3.

Earlier, Blizzard had removed a quest from the game involving the use of relics (the Musty Tome, Bloody Wooden Shard, and Metallic Fragment) for a cleansing ritual for the "The Oxen Gods." This quest spurred interest in the elusive cow level despite Blizzard's claim that it didn't exist. The quest's removal led to confusion, but the recent discovery has reignited the hunt.

Everything that has been discovered so far:

  • Slaying 666 cows on one character causes the final cow to drop one of the three relics based on your location.
  • A cooldown of 666,666 seconds (equivalent to 7.7 days) prevents you from obtaining another relic.
  • The relics can be traded among players.
  • Using all three relics at the Ox statues in Ked Bardu results in a strange key for the Forlorn Hovel.
  • Killing all the cows in the Forlorn Hovel rewards you with a stamina potion, providing a five-minute buff.

Players have been brainstorming ideas actively, such as using the potions during a campaign throwback sequence or eliminating the cellar cows in a specific order. Various streamers have joined the search, engaging their audiences to decipher these cryptic clues.

However, there's a possibility that the secret cow level may not yet be included in Diablo 4, as Blizzard has denied its existence. Notably, neither the relics nor the Forlorn Hovel were mentioned in the most recent patch notes. It's plausible that the next breakthrough might not emerge until a future update.

Nonetheless, the Diablo community remains committed to uncovering the secrets of the Sanctuary's cows. The hunt continues, and players are determined to unearth the truth, even if it takes them to unexpected places.
