Diablo 4: Season of the Construct has finally been revealed, and Blizzard is kicking off the year by adding a ton of new content to the game. Many new additions are coming to Season 3, including new endgame Vault Dungeons, a new questline, and most importantly, your very own Seneschal Companion that will help you in battle. This follower is going to be the main mechanic of the season, providing you with many ways to customize it through different Governing and Tuning Stones, which can modify his attacks or create unique buffs for your character.

The big question after this reveal, however, is how this Seneschal Companion is going to scale. Will it be with the level of your character, the damage of your weapon, or by other means? Here is everything we know about the scaling of the Seneschal Companion in Season of the Construct.

How Does the Seneschal Companion Scale in Diablo 4 Season 3?

Shortly after the big reveal for the upcoming Season of the Construct in Diablo 4, it became clear that most of the build decisions in this new season are going to be based around the Seneschal Companion. With the staggering amount of Governing and Tuning Stones available, players have already started to theorycraft different builds to either make the companion very strong or to make it work well with an already existing character build through buffs and debuffs.

The problem is that while we do know most of the different Stones that can be used to modify the Seneschal Companion, we do not know how its numbers are going to scale throughout the game. Many players have been hitting up Blizzard developers on X asking for more information, and Class Designer Sean White finally answered the question, stating that the Seneschal Companion will scale 1:1 with your own stats:

To clarify, yes! Your Seneschal Construct companion will scale 1:1 with your own stats. Your attack rating is it's attack rating. Your crit is it's crit, etc. Have at it!

Following up on this answer, content creator Wudijo asked Sean if these stats also include damage buffs from different aspects and uniques, as well as the paragon board itself. Sean answered the question, stating that the Seneschal Companion will only benefit from raw stat increases and will not inherit any conditional bonuses.

If it's a raw stat increase or damage bonus effect on you, then yes, the Seneschal will also inherit it. However, the Seneschal does not proc your legendary/paragon/etc. passive effects. (Eg. "You have a % chance to summon a fireball.")

So there you have it! The Seneschal Companion is going to scale based on the stats of your character, which already makes me wonder if AoE buffs such as any of the Barbarian shouts can be used to double-dip, by adding the bonuses twice to the companion. We will have to see once Season of the Construct begins on January 23rd, and if you are looking for more Diablo 4 news or guides, make sure to check out the rest of our website!
