Dragon Age: The Veilguard has finally hit the stores, and players can at last take control of Rook as they venture through the campaign of the new expansion to the Dragon Age IP. However, due to the unique combat experience that The Veilguard offers, some players might find it a bit hard to complete the game; that is where healing comes into place.
By healing the main character, Rook, you’ll have a better chance of standing up to tougher enemies and clearing some of the game’s harder content. In this guide, we’ll show you the various ways you can go about healing, so let’s dive straight in!

What is Healing
Healing is a way to recover the HP that you have lost during fights with enemies or by any other means. Currently, there are three ways in which you can heal Rook. Those include:
- Using Healing Potions
- Using Healing Skills
- Using Companion Healing Skills

Healing Potions
Potions are one of the ways you can replenish your HP. Rook can hold up to 3 Healing Potions, which can be used either during or outside of combat. Although the amount of Healing Potions you can hold is limited, you can easily replenish those potions in various ways. The best way to replenish your Healing Potion stock is to look for the green pots scattered around the map. You can break these pots to get a Healing Potion. If you have free space in your Healing Potion stock, the dropped potion will be automatically picked up. If your stock potion is full and your HP isn’t full, then you will be able to instantly use the dropped Healing Potion to recover your missing HP.
Healing Skills
Rook has access to several Healing Skills which can be used to recover HP. These Healing Skills can be found in specific classes and specializations, with the best example of this being the Death Caller Specialization under the Mage Class.

Companion Healing Skills
If you’re short on Healing Potions or have not chosen the Death Caller specialization, then your final way to heal Rook is through the help of your Companions’ Healing Skills. Some Companions have unique abilities that can restore Rook’s HP without you having to use potions. In the table below, you can find a list of all companions that can heal, along with the name of their healing skill.
Companion | Skill |
Bellara Lutare | Replenish |
Emmrich Volkarin | Replenish |
Neve Gallus | Replenish |
Lace Harding | Soothing Potion |
Lucanis Dellamorte | Soothing Potion |
