In Dragon's Dogma 2, you need to enhance your gear if you want to survive the harsh land. If you neglect your weaponry and armor for too long, when you get into more difficult fights, you will struggle. You are going to be fighting dragons, griffins, and cyclopes all day so you might as well make sure your sword is as sharp as possible.

How to Enhance Equipment in Dragon's Dogma 2

Your first step in enhancing your gear is finding a shop that has a forge. So keep an eye out for weaponsmiths and armorers. You will most likely find yourself in Vernworth sooner or later because that is where the main missions lead you. There is an armorer there that will do the job.

Talk to Roderick and in the shop's menu, you can choose to enhance equipment. You should be able to see all of your gear and that of your main Pawn. Pick which piece of equipment you want to upgrade and it will tell you what materials you will need.

You can enhance each weapon or armor piece three times. The first upgrade will only cost gold, which is good news for us because as you complete the countless side-quests available, you should be building up quite the treasure trove. With each upgrade, the price increases, and the materials get rarer

Dragon's Dogma 2: Smithing Style Explained

Another thing to keep an eye on is something called smithing style. This will change what the enhancement to your gear does, depending on where in the world you are making the upgrade.

In Vermund, the enhancements evenly increase all stats to your equipment. If you enhance your gear in the Sacred Arbor, it will barely affect the strength and defense stats but will focus on increasing your magic and magic defense stats. The opposite happens in Battahl so if you want to bolster your strength and defense, it's best to upgrade your equipment there.

While it seems like a small difference at first glance, if you watch the smithing style, you can adapt your gear to how you want to play Dragon's Dogma 2. It does make sense if you think about it; smiths around the world should have different ways to upgrade weapons.

That's everything you need to know about enhancing your equipment in Dragon's Dogma 2. When you are exploring, don't forget to collect some materials for your next upgrade. I hope you find this helpful.
