Igon's Questline Walkthrough

It's no secret that Igon's questline in Shadow of the Erdtree is extremely complicated, and there are multiple steps required to complete it. Starting from the Castle Front Site of Grace, head southwest and speak to Igon next to the Pillar Path Waypoint Site of Grace in east Gravesite Plain. Keep following the road until you get attacked by the Ancient Dragon-Man and defeat him. Continue south to the Dragon's Pit dungeon and complete it to access the Jagged Peak Region. Defeat the Jagged Peak Drake and head south to reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Speak to the Dragon Communion Priestess and accept the draconic essence.

Here you can give her Thiollier's Concoction at nighttime to get her Spirit Ash at the end of Igon's Quest or proceed without giving her anything to acquire her Flowerstone Gavel and the Priestess Heart at the end. Head up the mountain and defeat the dual Jagged Peak Drakes. You can speak to Igon again to acquire Igon's Furled Finger, and then head east to reach Ancient Dragon Senessax. Defeat the Ancient Dragon and continue to Jagged Peak Mountainside to defeat Bayle the Dread while summoning Drake Warrior Igon from within the arena. Now it's time to look at each of these steps separately, so you're fully prepared.

Where Is Igon Located In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree?

Finding Igon is the easiest thing to do in the quest. You can spot him resting and screaming loudly in pain just west of the Pillar Path Waypoint Site of Grace in east Gravesite Plain. All you need to do is talk to him about his hatred of Bayle the Dread. Once you're done with the dialogue, continue to head south.

Keep walking until you get invaded by the Ancient Dragon-Man spirit. Once you defeat him, you can move south until you get to the Dragon's Pit dungeon. Let's see what comes next in one of the most interesting quests of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

How To Complete Dragon's Pit Dungeon?

Enter the dungeon, and you will see the Skeletal Beastman, who will try to attack you and resurrect right after being struck down. Be careful because you will also encounter a Magma Wyrm who will drop a Dragon Heart and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone when defeated. Soon you will find a giant open pit surrounded by candles.

Don't hesitate to jump into the hole; it will lead you to a dungeon boss fight with the physical form of Ancient Dragon-Man. By defeating him, you will automatically receive Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana, and you'll be teleported back to the entrance of Dragon's Pit. Walk through the doors to access the Foot of the Jagged Peak and the Dragon's Pit Terminus Site of Grace.

Defeat The Jagged Peak Drake & Find Igon

Thankfully, defeating the Jagged Peak Drake in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree isn't very complicated. It's the first dragon fight that will occur shortly after you reach the Foot of the Jagged Peak, and this boss fight is optional. However, it will reward you with a Dragon Heart, a Dragonscale Flesh, and a lot of runes. Additionally, it's good practice for when you are facing all the other dragon battles ahead.

South of the Jagged Peak Drake, you will find the Grand Alter of Dragon Communion and the Dragon Communion Priestess. Speak to her and choose to devour the draconic essence. She will reward you with the Ancient Dragon's Blessing. Although it's a single-use item, it will increase all forms of damage negation. Moreover, the Dragon Communion Priestess will give you more of it upon demand. If you're speaking to her at night, you can give her Thiollier's Concoction to put her to sleep. This is the only way to eventually unlock her spirit ash summon.

Summon Igon & Defeat Ancient Dragon Senessax

Head back to the Jagged Peak Drake arena, go up the mountain, and cross the bridge to reach the Foot of the Jagged Peak. Continue walking until you see a pair of drakes fighting. Wait until one of them dies and defeat the other one to receive a Dragon Heart, a Dragonscale Flesh, and runes. You will see Igon to the east of the boss arena. Speak to him to get Igon's Furled Finger. You can use it to summon him during the battle against Bayle the Dread. Keep in mind that you don't need to equip Igon's Furled Finger - simply having it is enough.

Continue heading east until you encounter Ancient Dragon Senessax on your ride up the Jagged Peak. Stay on Torrent for as long as you can handle it in the battle, and use the steed's quick movement to get behind the dragon. Double-jump over its ground-based attack, and you will eventually be able to defeat him. After you're done, you will receive an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

How To Defeat Bayle The Dread?

Continue to go up the Jagged Peak and ride three more spirit springs to reach the summit. Summoning Drake Warrior Igon requires you to be within the arena, right after you pass through the mist wall. You will see Drake Warrior Igon's gold summon sign immediately to the left. Now, here is where things get a little bit more difficult.

Facing Bayle the Dread will definitely test your skills on the battlefield and your patience with Elden Ring's camera. Bayle the Dread uses a lot of fire-based attacks, so you'll need the best fire protection you can find. Use your Ancient Dragon's Blessing to reduce your damage intake, and use any frost- and rot-inflicting weapons to lower Bayle's health. Defeating him will reward you with the Heart of Bayle, a new type of Dragon Heart.

Finally, you can return to the Foot of the Jagged Peak Site of Grace to find Igon's corpse, where you last spoke to him. He will reward you with the following items:

  • Igon’s Greatbow
  • Igon’s Helm
  • Igon’s Armor
  • Igon’s Gauntlets
  • Igon’s Loincloth
  • Igon’s Bell Bearing

Once you return to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion Site of Grace, the Dragon Communion Priestess will no longer be there, but she will have left the following items for you:

  • Thiollier's Concoction: the Ancient Dragon Florissax Spirit Ash
  • No Concoction: the Priestess Heart Flowerstone Gavel and the Priestess Heart

Last but not least, you can exchange the Heart of Bayle at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion to unlock one of the two incantations:

  • Bayle's Flame Lightning

The first one channels the form of the dread dragon in the right arm to hit enemies with an exposed talon bone, and the second one channels the form of the dragon to emit a mighty roar accompanied by rapid eruptions of fire in the arena. For more information about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you can check out this article.
