Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, has been released. This new spy-thriller adventure allows players to return as the cyber-enhanced mercenary V and embark on a high-stakes mission of espionage and intrigue to save the NUS President.
New Area: Dogtown
Dogtown is a new area in Pacifica that is only accessible through the Phantom Liberty DLC. You can only visit the area once you have started the DLC and after a point, you can enter and exit Dogtown freely. The new area will also bring a bunch of new vendors and side quests as well as gigs.
New Weapons, Clothes, and Vehicles
We are getting a bunch of new weapons, clothing, and vehicles added to the game, some exclusive to the DLC. Some of the new weapons include Order (Tech Shotgun), Agaou (Axe), Carmen (Power Assault Rifle), and others like Osprey and Rasetsu sniper rifles, a shiny red katana, a new flamethrower weapon dubbed the Hercules, and a new category of illegal modified weapons including shotguns, handguns, and submachine guns.
Narrative and Choices
Narrative and choices have a huge impact on how Phantom Liberty plays out. The DLC will take place before the events of the ending and will be available after Placide and Voodoo Boys mission. There are four different endings in Phantom Liberty that offer different outcomes for V, Songbird (So Mi), and Reed based on two major choices. The ending you get is based on how you choose to act when helping Songbird extract the Neural Matrix in Kurt Hansen’s Dogtown stadium base, and how you act for the subsequent final choice a few missions later.
Reworked Skill Tree and New Skills
The skill tree has gone through a complete rework. Now skills are actual skills or new play styles unlockables, instead of percentage-based buffs. There is also a new relic skill attribute that will apparently bring a new gameplay style or changes to the skill system. Some new skills seen are finishers and bullet deflection with katanas.
Armor and Cosmetics
Now armor and defence stats are not tied to clothing, meaning you can wear whatever you want. Now armor stats are tied to cyberware, which will change your playstyle based on the cyberware you implant. Here's how to change your appearace in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Reworked Police and Notoriety System
The police system has gone through a complete change. Now police will engage in combat and chases when a crime is committed. A 1-star response will lead to an investigation, while a 4-star response will have MaxTac deployed on you.
Vehicle Combat
Now players can shoot out of their vehicles and can also use vehicles with in-built weapons to engage in vehicular combat.
Graphics Rework and Face Models Updated
The game will update and improve graphics and character models of many characters, mainly Johnny Silverhand. Update 2.0 brought most of these changes, along with a new Ray Tracing feature called 'Ray Reconstruction', which is an option you can toggle ON when you are running the game with Path Tracing enabled.
New Enemy Types and Enhanced AI
The Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 introduces a variety of new enemy types and significant enhancements to the AI. This means players can anticipate encountering a diverse range of adversaries in their journey through the expansion.
These enhancements are likely to result in more challenging and engaging combat scenarios, with enemies exhibiting smarter tactics and strategies during encounters. The improved AI is part of an array of new features introduced in the DLC to overhaul the game almost entirely.
Vehicle Purchasing and Stealing
Now vehicles will not be purchasable via messages but will be purchasable via a new website. Stealing a locked vehicle requires a certain number of Technical Ability points, while stealing an occupied one requires attribute points in Body.
In conclusion, Phantom Liberty brings a host of exciting new features and improvements to Cyberpunk 2077. The expansion promises to enhance the gaming experience with its new narrative choices, reworked systems, and additional content.
