Are you tired of not being able to loot things inside locked rooms or containers just because you can't lockpick? The frustration ends now! Follow these steps to become a pro at lockpicking in Fallout 4:

  • Have at least one bobby pin in your inventory
  • Approach a locked door/container and press the "unlock" prompt
  • The lockpicking minigame will appear - you'll see the bobby pin and tumbler cylinder
  • Use your mouse to position the bobby pin correctly in the cylinder
  • Once positioned, begin applying torque by holding down the left mouse button to turn the cylinder
  • The cylinder will turn until it hits a "tumbler" or pin causing resistance
  • When you feel resistance, slightly adjust the bobby pin position left or right until the cylinder turns freely again
  • Repeat this process, adjusting the bobby pin position when hitting resistance, until the cylinder makes a full 360-degree rotation
  • Higher-difficulty locks have more pin tumblers to work through before opening
  • If you break too many bobby pins, the lock resets and you must start over
  • Obtain the Locksmith perk to pick Advanced, Expert, and Master difficulty locks

That's how you lockpick like a pro. However, if you have had enough with lockpicking, you can open locks like a God, through cheats, of course. To use lockpick cheat, press the tilde key to bring up the console, then click on whatever you're trying to unlock with your mouse. Type Unlock and press Enter.

Hacking terminals in Fallout 4 is a puzzle-solving exercise that requires careful observation and logical thinking. Follow these steps to be able to hack like a pro in Fallout 4:

  • Approach a terminal and select the "hack" option to enter the hacking interface
  • You'll see a randomized list of words and characters - the correct password is one of those words
  • You have 4 chances to input the right password before getting locked out temporarily
  • Select a word that looks promising based on length and patterns
  • The game will indicate how many letters were right and in the right position via the "likeness" rating
  • Use that clue to cross off words that don't fit and narrow down possibilities
  • You can also click on gibberish character strings to potentially remove incorrect words or reset chances left
  • Bracket words that go across two lines are also valid password options
  • The higher the difficulty of the terminal, the more obscure the password words become
  • Get the Hacker perk to access harder-difficulty terminals and create terminals in settlements

Remember, the key to being a pro in hacking and lockpicking is to keep practicing. In no time, you'll get the hang of it and you'll be the hack and lockpick master in Fallout 4.
