Fortnite Festival mode lets groups of players jam to popular songs and so many players hoped their old instrument controllers could be used for an authentic experience in Fortnite. Unfortunately, the December 2023 launch didn't include this support, opting for regular keyboard inputs.

Fans, understanding Fortnite Festival mode speedy development, were still yearning for an authentic on-stage feel. Luckily, Epic heard the request and happily shared that they're currently working on making Xbox, PlayStation, and third-party controllers compatible soon in 2024. Another reason to celebrate!

What We Know About Upcoming Instrument Controller Support for Fortnite Festival

Epic team hasn't specified which devices will be supported, but the usual ones are expected. Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars are the most likely, with established button mappings. Drum kits should also be compatible. As for niche controllers like DJ Hero turntables, it's a long shot, but we can dream!

Regardless, 2024 is the year musicians get what they asked for. Dust off those Wii guitars and get ready to strum along to the rhythms. Physical input will definitely make a huge difference in Fortnite Festival, taking immersion to a whole new level.

While waiting for the integration, use button remapping tools like JoyToKey to use your existing gear in Fortnite Festival. Connect colored fret keys to corresponding keyboard inputs to replicate the experience. Unfortunately, this tool will not let you use tilt sensors and strum bars. However, you'll still look like a rockstar before truly feeling it.
