As of the 29.01 patch, players can obtain the Chains of Hades Mythic in a few different ways:

  1. Defeating Hades at his altar in The Underworld POI
  2. Looting the weapon from supply drops and chests

The most reliable method is challenging Hades himself. To do this, head to The Underworld in the northwest corner of the map and then face the ruler of the Underworld in battle. Upon defeating him, he'll drop the Chains of Hades.

Using the Chains of Hades Mythic Weapon

The Chains of Hades is a versatile weapon with two modes of attack. The primary fire button lets you lash out and damage enemies with the chain. Hitting an opponent will also pull them slightly closer to you, setting up a deadly shotgun combo.

Alternatively, aim down sights (right-click or L2/LT on the controller) to use the chain as a grappling hook. This yanks enemies right to you from a distance, closing the gap and letting you unleash fury up close.

The Chains of Hades Mythic is available in the normal Battle Royale loot pool as of the March 19 Fortnite update.

This follows the pattern of Chapter 5 Season 2's other Mythic weapons. Items like the Thunderbolt of Zeus were added to the game in stages throughout the season instead of all being available on day one.

So now that the 29.01 update has arrived, all Fortnite players can wield the Chains of Hades Mythic. Challenge Hades, and open some chests - the Hades Whip is officially unleashed.
