Genshin Impact just held its special program for its upcoming Version 5.0 update, and it revealed an entirely new mechanic known as [Capturing Radiance], which will increase players’ chances of winning their 50/50 when summoning on Event Wish banners.

Details
Capturing Radiance is a new type of mechanic that is directly tied to the Event Wish banners in Genshin Impact. It will become available after the version 5.0 update on August 28, 2024, and will increase players’ chances of winning their 50/50 on limited event characters.

How It Works
When players pull on the [Character Event Wish] or [Character Event Wish-2] banners and they are not guaranteed to win the promotional 5-star character, they have a chance of triggering the [Capturing Radiance] mechanic.
Whenever the [Capturing Radiance] is triggered, players are guaranteed to win the promotional 5-star character.
You can see that the [Capturing Radiance] is triggered by looking for a purple light with the icon of an Intertwined Fate when summoning.
NOTE: Capturing Radiance can only trigger when you are not guaranteed to get the promotional 5-star character. Meaning it will only trigger whenever you are on your 50/50. It will not trigger if you have lost your 50/50 and are guaranteed to get the promotional 5-star.
Chances
Capturing Radiance has a chance of appearing. It will NOT appear every time you win a 5-star character.
The chance for the [Capturing Radiance] mechanic to trigger is 5%.
This means after Version 5.0 players will have a 55% chance of winning the promotional character on a banner.
This means that after version 5.0, whenever you are not guaranteed a promotional 5-star character, you will have a 55/45 chance of winning them, rather than a 50/50 chance.
Where Can it Appear
The [Capturing Radiance] mechanic can only appear on [Character Event Wish] and [Character Event Wish-2] banners. It will not trigger in any other Wishes.
