Emilie Introduction
Emilie is going to be the limited 5-star character to join the Genshin Impact roster in version 4.8, which is also speculated to be the last version before Natlan’s release in 5.0. Emilie is one of the Fontaine characters in the game and works as a 5-star Dendro Polearm user.
As of right now, she is expected to work as a sub-dps Dendro DPS unit that specializes in Burning and Burgeon teams.
With the release of Fontaine, it’s become apparent that HoYo is trying to design new ways to use already existing reactions and is making its newer characters cater to those new ways. Emilie is a great example of this as she’ll be able to shine the brightest in teams that use Pyro characters and won’t be able to get her full potential in other teams.
Regardless, it is still too early to say whether she’ll be good or bad, and that is something to be determined after her official release. For now, all we can do is look at her kit and speculate. Speaking of kit, you can see all of Emilie’s skills below.

Skills
ATK
Shadow-Hunting Spear (Custom) - Normal Attack
- Normal Attack
- Performs up to 4 consecutive spear strikes.
- Charged Attack
- Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to perform an upward slash.
- Plunging Attack
- Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Skill
Fragrance Extraction - Elemental Skill
- Creates a Lumidouce Case that deals AoE Dendro DMG.
- Lumidouce Case:
- Fires of [Puffs of Puredew] at nearby opponents at intervals, dealing Dendro DMG.
- If nearby opponents are Burning, they will give off Scents at intervals. The [Lumidouce Case] will collect these nearby scents, and after gathering 2, it will level up, firing 1 extra Puff of Puredew for every Puff that would be fired off, while the DMG dealt by such attacks will also be increased.
- 1 Lumidouce Case created by Emilie herself can exist at any one time. The Case starts at Level 1 and can go up to Level 2.
- Arkhe: Pneuma
- At intervals, after Emilie creates a Lumidouce Case this way, a Spiritbreath Thorn will descend in front of her and pierce her opponent, dealing Pneuma-aligned Dendro DMG.
ULT
Aromatic Explication - Elemental Burst
- Guiding the fragrances collected within the Case, Emilie converts them into pure Dendro energy, creating a [Level 3 Lumidouce Case] and destroying existing Cases.
- While it exists, the [Level 3 Lumidouce Case] will not gather nearby Scents, but it will continuously cause [Scented Dew] to descend, attacking opponents within range and dealing Dendro DMG.
- During this time, 1 drop of Scented Dew will descend every 0.3 second(s), and 1 opponent can become the target every 0.7 second(s).
- When the duration ends, a [Level 1 Lumidouce Case] will be recreated.
- If a Lumidouce Case that had already collected Scents was destroyed when Aromatic Explication was used, the newly created Lumidouce Case will inherit the previous Scents and Level of the destroyed Case.
- While Aromatic Explication is active, the Elemental Skill [Fragrance Extraction] will not create a Lumidouce Case.
Talents
TBA
Life Talent
- Emilie deals 36% more DMG to enemies in the Burning state and 90% less DMG to enemies in the Aggravate state.
T2
Lingering Fragrance
- Each time it collects 2 Scents, the [Level 2 Lumidouce Case] will consume Scents and release [Cleardew Cologne] that deals 500% of Emilie's ATK as AoE Dendro DMG to opponents.
- This DMG is not considered Elemental Skill DMG.
- Emilie cannot trigger this effect for 30s after triggering Catalyze or Spread.
T3
Rectification
- When a Lumidouce Case created by Emilie is on the field, all party members gain 85% Pyro RES against Burning DMG.

- This effect can be triggered once every 2.9s.
C2

Exquisite Essence
- Increases the Level of Fragrance Extraction by 3.
C4

C6
Marcotte Trace
- When using Fragrance Extraction or Aromatic Explication, Emilie will gain [Abiding Fragrance] for 5s.
- While this is active, after Emilie uses Normal or Charged Attacks, she will generate 1 Scent, and her Normal and Charged Attacks will be converted into Dendro DMG that cannot be overridden, and their DMG will be increased by 250% of Emilie's ATK.
- Abiding Fragrance's effects will be canceled after 4 Scents are created, or after the duration expires.
- Abiding Fragrance can be triggered once every 12s.

Closing Remarks
All in all, we’re excited for Emilie’s release and can’t wait to see how she will fit into the already existing meta. Whether she will breathe new life into forgotten teams and characters is still too early to say, as we don’t know just how much she’ll be able to boost burning and burgeon.
For now, she seems like a decent character with a niche in specific lineups, and we can’t wait to see how she performs.
