Genshin Impact version 5.0 is set to release an entirely new nation for players to explore and new mechanics for them to learn.
A new nation also means that players will encounter new characters from that nation, each with their own unique mechanics.
Discover more details on the new mechanics you can expect to see from Natlan’s characters below.
Table of Contents
Nightsoul’s Blessing
The [Nightsoul’s Blessing] is a state that is exclusive to Natlan characters, and it is used to enhance their movement and combat abilities.
In most cases, Natlan characters can enter this state by using their Elemental Skill. When in the [Nightsoul’s Blessing] state, characters will consume what is known as [Nightsoul points].
In the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, Natlan characters receive unique movement abilities that allow them to more easily traverse the world of Teyvat. Additionally, this state also changes their skills, allowing for varied combat experiences.
Nightsoul Points
Nightsoul points are a type of currency that Natlan characters consume when in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state. Natlan characters generally generate a set amount of Nightsoul points upon entering the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, and certain characters can also obtain additional Nightsoul points through Passive Talents.

Nightsoul Burst
Nightsoul Burst is a new mechanic that triggers when your party contains a character from Natlan, and a character deals Elemental DMG. Nightsoul Bursts appear as a white flash on your screen when they are triggered, and they grant various buffs to the party.
For example, Kachina’s Nightsoul Burst increases her Geo DMG Bonus by 20% for 12s, and Mualani’s Nightsoul Burst can stack up to 3 times and increase the damage of her Elemental Burst by up to 45% of her Max HP.
All in all, Nightsoul Burst seems like an interesting mechanic that may prove to be essential when exploring Natlan and challenging Genshin’s harder content.

Nightsoul Transmission
Nightsoul Transmission is a type of relay function that occurs when switching to Natlan characters.
In areas where Phlogiston Mechanics are present within Natlan when you switch to a Natlan character, in certain movement modes (such as sprinting), you will trigger a Nightsoul Transmission.
This transmission will manifest in a form of movement mechanic that will help you explore the world.
In Kachina’s case, you will summon a giant drill that will help you when climbing walls, and in Mualani’s case, you will summon her shark surfboard when swimming to make your way through the water easier.

Phlogiston
Phlogiston is, as the developers describe it, a high-temperature thermal energy unique to Natlan. Phlogiston can take many forms and is found throughout Natlan. When you obtain it, Phlogiston becomes a shared resource for your party, which can be found right above your character’s health bar.
Phlogiston is used as a replacement for Nightsoul points. When a character runs out of Nightsoul points when in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, they will begin to consume Phlogiston. It allows Natlan characters to maintain their Nightsoul’s Blessing state longer, thus allowing you to explore faster.
