According to the Spanish source Areajugones, which has a track record of reliable leaks, the studio Sony Santa Monica, creators of God of War, could be developing downloadable content (DLC) for the game. The source, supposedly close to Sony, indicates that this DLC will be unveiled "at the end of the year."

The timing aligns with The Game Awards, scheduled for December 7 this year. Sony typically has a strong presence at the event, which has led to speculation that the God of War Ragnarok announcement might take place during the show.

This would likely put the DLC's release window some time in 2024. The big question is if continuation of the story be focused on Kratos or Atreus.

The exact nature of this expansion remains uncertain. Some suggest it could be a "half-sequel" similar to games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which is essentially a standalone expansion to a full game. Areajugones suggests that recent leaks support this theory.

Announcing the DLC during The Game Awards 2023 would be appropriate given God of War Ragnarok's impressive showing at the event last year. The game was highly recognized, receiving six awards, including Best Narrative and Best Performance for Christopher Judge, the actor who portrays Kratos.
