For the one-year anniversary of God of War: Ragnarok, Santa Monica Studio has decided to celebrate by releasing a brand-new and free DLC called Valhalla. This will be a new roguelite mode set after the events of Ragnarok, in which Kratos and Mimir embark on a "deeply personal and reflective journey" through Valhalla. In this article, we will explore everything we know about the new Valhalla DLC for God of War: Ragnarok.

God of War Valhalla Roguelite Mechanics
The new free DLC for God of War Ragnarok is going to add a roguelite mode. For those who don't know, roguelites are usually action games that you start over after dying and gain a bit of power for your next run. So the gameplay loop is pushing as much as you can, get as much resources as possible and start over with the intent of going further in your next run. This is usually coupled with some way to keep the runs fresh, randomized perks or items that you can obtain on your way.
Santa Monica Studio have stated that the differences in each run are going to be in the form of Perks, Runic attacks and Glyphs which change your stats. That and different monsters being present in each run is going to keep the mode fresh, letting players engage with the amazing combat mechanics of God of War Ragnarok.
As you overcome the trials of Valhalla and explore its depths, you will make choices between temporary Glyphs for which Stats to upgrade, which Perks to select, which Runic Attacks to wield, and more. Each attempt can play out differently based on the rewards you choose, so keep your strategy in mind when making selections!

New God of War: Valhalla Outfits
Some of the rewards for playing the new Valhalla roguelite mode are going to be different armors, which are going to be cosmetic only. It doesn't seem like you are going to be tinkering with your armor sets for any stats or bonuses this time around.
Armor in Valhalla is for appearances only, so don’t hold back when customizing for style! Unlock different looks, then mix and match your favorites between attempts to get Kratos looking fighting fit for all your Photo Mode needs.

God of War: Valhalla Difficulty Modes
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is going to feature five difficulty settings, which are going to increase the challenge, but also increase the amount of rewards you will earn from your runs. You will be able to swap them freely in order to find the one that suits you the most. It seems like the mode is going to be very reminiscent of God of War 2018's Niflheim zone.
God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla has five difficulty settings that have been specially crafted and tuned to the unique gameplay of the DLC.

God of War: Valhalla Story
The new Valhalla DLC is going to be an epilogue for Kratos and Mimir after the departure of Atreus in Ragnarok. SMS have called it a 'deeply personal and reflective journey', which might indicate some flashbacks similar to the ones in the Norse-saga games. While we don't know if there are going to be a lot of story moments in this new mode, we hope there is going to be some information on where the God of War story is going to continue in the next games.
God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla will be an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarök that follows Kratos on a deeply personal and reflective journey.
