Supergiant Games, the developers behind critically acclaimed titles such as Bastion, Pyre, and Transistor, have finally released the sequel to their latest game, Hades, in early access. Hades 2 was first announced during the Game Awards show back in 2023, and ever since then, fans of the first game have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the story. The game is a rogue-like dungeon crawler inspired by ancient Greek myths, and it will follow a brand new protagonist called Melinoe, who is the sister of Zagreus from the first game.
Similar to its predecessor, Hades 2 is releasing as an early access title, and the developers are committed to continuing work on the game and polishing all of its features based on player feedback. Here's everything you need to know about the Hades 2 early access release.

Hades 2 is Now Available in Early Access!
The Hades 2 early access is now available only on PC through Steam and the Epic Games store. The game is currently priced at $28.99, and the developers have stated that they may "raise the retail price at a later point" depending on how much the scope of the game increases during the early access stages. There is currently no information on whether or not the game is going to arrive on consoles, but based on how the early access stage of the original worked, it's unlikely until Hades 2 fully releases.
The game is expected to stay in early access "at least through the end of 2024," but that may change as time goes on. Supergiant Games have also stated that the Hades 2 early access already features "more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original Hades game," which already had players invested for hundreds of hours.

The main protagonist of Hades 2 is Zagreus' sister Melinoe, and instead of trying to escape the underworld, she is actively trying to enter it and go back to her family. While the general gameplay might be similar to the first game, the sequel is going to focus on Melinoe's spellcasting and witchcraft, with some new meta-progression systems also being in play. You can expect the same colorful cast of characters to offer their boons, with some new faces added as well.
That is everything you need to know about the Hades 2 early access, which you can now purchase and play on Steam and the Epic Games store. Hopefully, the game lives up to the expectations of the original, which was one of the best games of 2018, winning numerous awards for its creative use of the genre, art style, and gameplay.
