Just when we thought everything would be getting back to normal for Helldivers 2, three more countries have had Helldivers 2 removed from Steam. It came as a shock to a lot of fans because we have all started to relax after Sony backed down from their mandate.

Players were starting to enjoy the game again and conversations were returning to the norm. The new Warbond, Polar Patriots, dropped and we all had fun trying out new weapons and armor. Talk of the SMG-72 Pummeller being the new meta gun seemed to be the most important topic. Then we all got a nasty surprise on May 11, when Helldivers 2 was delisted from more countries.

Helldivers 2: PSN Drama Recap

When Helldivers 2 was released, all Steam players were meant to link to a PSN account but due to technical issues, it became optional. This was a choice that most PC gamers chose not to do and everything was fine. Then Sony decided to make it mandatory all of a sudden which caused outrage within the Helldivers 2 community.

There are still hundreds of countries that do not have PSN coverage and the new demand from Sony would lock thousands of players out of Helldivers 2 even though they bought it months ago.

After the massive review bomb ending with Helldivers 2’s rating on Steam becoming overwhelmingly negative and an estimated 215,000 bad reviews, the game was removed from sale in 177 countries. Sony decided to listen to its community and announced that the update making PSN account linking mandatory would not be going live.

Helldivers 2 Delists From More Countries

Three more countries were added to those that no longer could access Helldivers 2 on Steam. As of May 11, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania can no longer purchase Helldivers 2. We all thought the controversy was over and done with but this has sparked anger that hasn’t had time to disappear completely.

Many players thought that Helldivers 2 would be returned to all countries worldwide on Steam but that is not the case. Gamers have questioned the developers about what is going on and Arrowhead’s CEO Pilestedt replied on Discord.

We have no idea what's going on. Most devs are on a bank holiday and we just found out through the community. We want the game to be available worldwide.

If Arrowhead has no idea what is happening, what hope do players have at understanding what is next for Helldivers 2? Fans of the popular shooter had changed their reviews to positive after Sony backtracked but with this new development, it seems Helldivers 2’s rating on Steam will take another nosedive.

The only thing the players of Helldivers 2 want is for everyone to be included. “We dive together or we don’t dive” is becoming a common phrase in the community. We can only hope that Arrowhead figures the problem out and gets Helldivers 2 available for everyone as soon as they can. That’s everything we know so far. We will keep an eye out for more news about the PSN controversy.
