Starfield offers a variety of powerful weapons, but most of them follow a system similar to Fallout 4's random generation, producing better-stat guns with a few tweaks. This leaves truly unique weapons as rare finds. One such rarity is Heller's Cutter, the personalized Laser Cutter belonging to Heller, a colleague at Argos Extractors. You might recall the basic Laser Cutter as the very first weapon you wield in Starfield, essential for the tutorial.
While your Laser Cutter remains handy throughout the late game, especially for resource extraction on planets, Heller's Cutter adds style to your arsenal, regardless of what Heller himself thinks about it.
Where to Locate Heller's Cutter in Starfield
Unsurprisingly, Heller's Cutter can be found where you initially met him: at the Argos Extractors mining outpost on Vectera in the Narion system. More precisely, it's inside the building to the right of the landing pad, concealed within a cutter crate near the entrance. You might remember a similar crate holding your own cutter during the tutorial. Much like that one, all you need to do is walk up and press E (or X or A if using a controller) to claim Heller's Cutter for yourself.
It's worth noting that you can only obtain the cutter during or after the "Back to Vectera" mission, which directs you to return to the tutorial moon to locate Constellation scientist Barrett. If you attempt to reach Vectera's hidden treasure beforehand, you'll discover that the building is locked and completely inaccessible. However, don't fret, as the main story in Starfield will lead you back there eventually.
In practical terms, Heller's Cutter is a standard cutter, but it comes with a stylish paint job and a fixed damage bonus against robots. If Vasco has been causing you trouble, this tool will help you deal with him. While this combat bonus technically makes it an upgrade over your own cutter, you'll likely use it primarily for mineral harvesting. If you're seeking top-tier weaponry, consider joining the Freestar Collective and obtaining a high-powered six-shooter instead.
