In Bethesda's Starfield, players are constantly searching for secrets and buffs that can enhance their gameplay. However, a recent revelation has left many players in disbelief, as they have discovered a game-changing buff hidden in plain sight at one of the game's starting locations.
A Reddit user recently shared a screenshot of a Skill Book found in The Lodge, specifically on the railing near where the Artifacts were assembled during the player's initial visit. The Skill Book, known as "Constellation Guide 01," grants players the permanent ability to reduce oxygen consumption by 15% while moving when they are over-encumbered.
What's even more surprising is that players, including some who have completed the game, admitted to being completely unaware of the Skill Book's existence until now.
The Reddit post quickly gained attention, with many players expressing their astonishment at having overlooked this early-game buff.
Comments varied from players remarking on how these buffs are "cleverly hidden in plain sight" to suggestions for a feature that would make such Skill Books glow, similar to mechanics seen in other games like Fallout 4.
Some players shared their disappointment, as their Constellation Guide #1 had different effects, such as reducing fall damage by 5%. Others speculated that the buffs might be randomized, or at least some of them.
Another player pointed out that these buffs carry over into New Game Plus (NG+), making some of them exceptionally potent.
Bethesda has always been recognized for its meticulous attention to detail, and the discovery of this Skill Book hidden in plain sight only reinforces that reputation.
From the Mark 1 Spacesuit trick, which allows players to access high-level armor early in the game, to the subtle details that enhance immersion, Starfield continues to surprise and captivate its player base.
