Jiaoqiu is one of the two new 5-star characters being introduced in version 2.4. He is set to possibly release in the second phase of version 2.4, starting on August 21.

Jiaoqiu Speculated Release Date
Considering that Jiaoqiu was the second character to be announced by Honkai: Star Rail’s official media channel, we can safely assume that he will make an appearance in the second phase of version 2.4.
As of right now, the speculated date for the start of Version 2.4 phase two is August 21, which gives you more than enough time to start saving! You should note that this date is not final, and HoYoverse may change it before the official release of the version, so take it with a grain of salt.

Jiaoqiu Kit and Skills
Jiaoqiu is shaping up to be a premium Fire Nihility character that will likely fit nicely into a lot of Acheron teams. He is not only able to boost the team’s overall damage but also dish it out himself, so by looking at his kit, we can speculate that he will fit nicely in a lot of teams that have been hungry for a solid Fire character.

Pyrograph Arcanum
- Sets the number of [Ashen Roast] stacks on enemy targets to the highest number of [Ashen Roast] stacks present on the battlefield.
- Then, activates a Field and deals Fire DMG equal to 120% of Jiaoqiu's ATK to all enemies.
- While inside the field, enemy targets take 9% increased Ultimate DMG, with a 50% base chance of being inflicted with 1 stack of Ashen Roast when taking action.
- This effect can only be triggered once for enemies in each turn.
- The Field lasts for 3 turn(s), and its duration decreases by 1 at the start of this unit's every turn.
- If Jiaoqiu is knocked down, the Field will also be dispelled.

- If the target is not under the Unarmored effect dealt by the wearer, when the wearer uses a Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate on enemy targets, there is a 60% base chance to inflict Unarmored to the enemy.
- Under the Unarmored state, the target enemy's DMG received is increased by 10%, lasting for 2 turn(s).
- When the wearer deals DMG to an enemy with the Unarmored effect inflicted by themselves, there is a 60% base chance to escalate the Unarmored state from them into the Cornered state, which increases the target enemy's DMG received by 18%.

Summary
Jiaoqiu looks like an interesting addition to the game when it comes to Nihility teams. His Signature Light Cone, and overall kit scream [Acheron support], but that is only at first glance.
As of right now, it’s hard to determine where or how he’ll be useful, but his ability to deal damage while also applying good damage buffs to your team will certainly find a place in a lot of setups, giving Jiaoqiu a nice bit of utility.
