Daeron is the fourth and final child of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. He is known to have his own blue dragon named Tessarion, "The Blue Queen." Daeron was born soon after Rhaenyra's son Jacaerys Velaryon. In the books, it is said that King Viserys asked for the two boys to share a wet nurse, hoping that this would strengthen their bond. However, later on, Daeron harbors the same bitter feelings towards Rhaenyra's children.

Why is Daeron Targaryen Sent Away?

The reason we never see Daeron in the show is that, in the books, he is sent away to be fostered by his mother's family, the Hightowers. He was twelve years old when he became a cupbearer and squire to Alicent's cousin, Lord Ormund Hightower. Furthermore, he is described as the gentlest and most handsome among his brothers.

In the books, Daeron is still in Oldtown during all the events we see happening in Season 1.

Although it is strange that he is barely ever mentioned, it makes sense for Daeron to be left out of HOTD Season 1. The books include the story of his childhood, but his presence as a kid wasn't that important to the story or the political conflicts between the Greens and the Blacks. On the other hand, as we saw, Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena are at the center of everything that has been going on.

However, Daeron plays a crucial role in the upcoming war, so he should definitely be introduced in Season 2. Without giving away big spoilers, he participates in many important battles, one of which is against a character that was just introduced—Addam of Hull.
