House Of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7: Recap & Review

Episode 7 of HOTD Season 2 was definitely one of the more exciting ones of the season. Everything that happened in this week's episode will be important for the course of the war. We saw three dragons get their dragonriders in this episode, which will completely rebalance the powers in the conflict. Addam of Hull Claims Seasmoke

Addam of Hull and Seasmoke's connection has been teased this whole season, so it wasn't that surprising to see him claim the lonely dragon in Episode 6 of Season 2. The new episode began with Rhaenyra approaching the new dragonrider and her late husband's dragon. Although she was worried about his intentions at first, Addam immediately bent the knee and asked to serve her.

Rhaenyra was not only glad to hear that but was also excited to find out that there were more dragonseeds who could claim the free dragons. This sparked the idea of a very risky and massive plan that we saw take place later on.

Daemon Finally Acquires an Army at Harrenhal

After a whole season of staying at Harrenhal, Daemon's efforts finally paid off. The young Lord Tully gained power over the Riverlands after his grandfather passed away. This allowed Daemon to influence all the Houses and bring them to his side, thanks to the young lord's loyalty to his ancestors' oaths. Of course, this did not happen easily, as the Targaryen prince is not exactly their favorite person. However, Lord Tully was surprisingly persuasive when reminding the lords of their pledges to House Tully and their oaths in favor of King Viserys's wishes.

Larys Strong Protects Aegon From Aemond 

Larys Strong clearly doesn't have the same relationship with Aemond as he did with Aegon. While the young king finds him very helpful, the Prince Regent does not rely on him for important matters and seems to even dislike him. Moreover, Larys is aware of his differences with Aemond and sees through his intentions.

For one reason or another, Larys is devoted to King Aegon and does everything possible to protect him. It seems that Aegon's current state brings Larys even closer to him because he sympathizes and feels his pain. He asks the maester to forcefully make him walk as much as possible, even if it causes Aegon pain. He knows that Aegon must get stronger as quickly as possible in order to protect himself.

Rhaenyra Creates an Army of Bastards 

Although she was initially let down by her efforts to find new Dragonriders, Rhaenyra finally saw a chance to discover unknown dragonseeds. She ordered her servants in King's Landing to spread the news of her gathering bastards through the common folk. Hugh Hammer and Ulf were also candidates for the dragons and, in the end, were the only two successful attempts.

Now Rhaenyra has the second-largest dragon on her side, Vermithor, ridden by Hugh Hammer, and Silverwing, claimed by Ulf. The Queen now has more dragon power than the Greens, which intimidated Aemond. The war is at higher stakes, and the dragons will lead the fight, which looks to be deadlier than ever.

HOTD Season 2 Episode 8: Release Date

Episode 8 of 'House of the Dragon' Season 2, which will be the last of the season, will premiere on Monday, August 5 at 9 PM ET/PT. Fans can watch the show exclusively on HBO Max.
