Getting a Sylveon begins with the basic Eevee, a normal type obtained by exploring in the wild. Then you will need to evolve Eevee and turn it into Sylveon. 25 Eevee candies are required in conjunction with one of the two methods:

1) The Name Trick

This nickname Easter egg works once per Eeveelution. Rename your Eevee "Kira” without quotes, provide 25 candies, and press Evolve. Sylveon should appear as the silhouette on the evolve button. If not, cancel and retry. Reverting names does not reset the trick.

2) Earning Buddy Hearts

Alternatively, set Eevee as your Buddy and bond until it has 70 total hearts. You can earn affection hearts through various activities:

  • Embarking on walks to explore new areas (a few hearts per 2km journeyed)
  • Snapping sweet pictures in AR mode to capture memories
  • Having battles side-by-side against other trainers or grunts
  • Taking a break from training for playtime games and rest
  • Giving gifts of tasty berries or special poffins as tasty treats (up to 3 per day)

Completing these tasks daily should easily get you the dozen hearts needed. Monitor your progress on the Buddy profile under your trainer page. Once at 70 total hearts, use 25 Eevee candies to evolve your leveled-up companion into Sylveon.

What is Sylveon?

Debuting in Pokemon X and Y, Sylveon dazzles as a pure fairy-type sporting high special attack and special defense. Its stats excel against dragon, fighting, and dark opponents in battle. While strong dragons resist other types, they fall swiftly to fairy attacks. These attributes make Sylveon a must-have when constructing teams for PvP matches, Raid fights, and defending Gyms.
