This new approach by the WoW Classic team might be very rewarding in the long run, as the community has heavily criticized the devs for the lack of sufficient testing which resulted in some exploits and unbalanced gameplay. Although the players are skeptical of Season of Discovery, following the rather underwhelming previous 2 phases, there is still light at the end of the tunnel as we might get to see some scrapped content from Vanilla WoW come to life.

All in all, Season of Discovery was a very experimental attempt at spicing up WoW Classic, which at the start was very successful and fun so the devs can only learn from the mistakes and take the ideas to create something even better in the future. The future of Season of Discovery is uncertain, but the mere fact that Blizzard is willing to experiment shows that the passion for the game is still there for players to experience.
