Bethesda's Starfield is undoubtedly one of the biggest games of the year, and it's finally arriving on Xbox and PC.
The game's official release date is set for September 6, 2023. Even if you don't have early access right now, you can preload it on your device, so you're all set to embark on your space adventure from the moment it's available.
Here's everything you need to know about preloading Starfield, including the storage space required and how to install the game on your device.
Pre-Load Date for Starfield:
Preloads for Starfield are currently available for Xbox users (both console and Windows PC) and Steam users. You can preload the game if you've either pre-ordered it or if you're a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass. Keep in mind that the game is expected to be approximately 125 GB in size, so prepare for a substantial download.
Unfortunately, if you have a physical version of the game, preloading is more challenging. As far as we know, there's no way to digitally verify a physical purchase of Starfield and preload the game. However, the Starfield Premium Upgrade and the Starfield Constellation Editions allow you to play up to 5 days earlier than the official launch, which somewhat addresses this limitation.
How to Pre-Install Starfield:
Preloading Starfield is straightforward if you've already pre-ordered the game or are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber. Follow these steps:
For Xbox Users (Console and Windows PC):
- Open the Xbox app on your PC or visit the Xbox store on your Xbox console.
- Search for "Starfield" in the store.
- Among the different editions displayed, select the one that simply says "Starfield."
- On the Starfield product page, look for the "Pre-Install" option. Click on it.
- The game will start pre-installing, ensuring a smooth launch on September 6.
For Steam Users:
- Locate Starfield in your Steam library.
- Click on the "pre-load" icon next to the game.
- The preloading process will begin.
With these steps, you'll be well-prepared for the highly anticipated launch of Starfield on September 6. Enjoy your space adventure!
