Is Path of Exile 2 Cross Platform?
Grinding Gear Games

The Early Access of Path of Exile 2 is just around the corner, with a confirmed release date of December 6, 2024. Those who’ve closely been following the development of the game and have been die-hard fans of the first iteration of the franchise will without a doubt get ready to sink hundreds of hours into the new addition to the IP, and that is true for us as well. Although the early access will not cover the whole game, it will give players a taste of what Path of Exile 2 has to offer by giving us the chance to play through 3 campaign acts, try a total of 6 classes, and even dive into some endgame content. And the best part? You won’t have to do it alone!

Is Cross-Play Available?

Those of you who have a group of friends using different devices to play games on are in luck, as cross-platform play will be available for Path of Exile 2. This means that you can hop into the game with any of your friends and play together regardless of whether you’re on PC and your friends are on PlayStation or Xbox. You can seamlessly connect with them and play to your heart’s content when the Early Access launches this December 6, 2024.

The game will be available on PC (Steam / Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S so if you have any of these consoles and are willing to pay the $30 required for the Early Access you’ll be on your way to playing Path of Exile 2 early next month.

Is Cross Progression Available?

Similar to cross-play, cross-progression is also available in Path of Exile 2. As long as you have an account, you will be able to log into any device that supports the game and continue your progression without having to worry about anything else. Your characters, progress, items, and everything else will carry over between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, so you won’t have to worry about starting over. If you want to spend an hour in front of the PC playing and then switch to the couch and boot up the game on your OLED TV through your console of choice, you will be able to do that. There are no limitations to the cross-progression in the game, so go wild and play in a way that is most comfortable to you.

However, there is one unique thing that you need to remember about cross-progression. Although you only need to purchase the Early Access once, any purchase you make on PlayStation 5 will not be available on PC and Xbox, and the same is also true the other way around, meaning that any purchases you make on PC and Xbox will not be available on PlayStation 5. Please take this into consideration when deciding to purchase things within the game!
