Bioware released Knights of the Old Republic back in 2003. The game had some flaws but gamers praise the storyline, saying it's the best in the Star Wars game franchise. The RPG is also famous for having one of the greatest twists in gaming history. It has disappeared over the decades but still holds a place in many fans' hearts.
Star Wars: KOTOR's Remake Development So Far
For over a decade, fans of Bioware’s classic RPG have been crying out for a remake. We thought there was an answer to our prayers when in 2021 Aspyr started development. Since then Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic's remake has had a rollercoaster of problems and delays since Embracer announced the project.
The development of the remake halted in July 2022, then it changed hands to Saber Interactive. Only silence on the project came after that news. Fans of KOTOR cried out for information when Embracer started laying off staff, killing a Deus Ex sequel, and selling studios.

We breathed a sigh of relief when we found out Saber Interactive was still working on Knights of the Old Republic. Then Embracer announced it was selling off Saber in a deal worth $500 million.
We can safely say fans have had enough of not knowing what is happening to the Knights of the Old Republic. We just want a concrete answer as to if and when we will see the Star Wars RPG.
Who Is Making KOTOR Now?
While the latest news is that KOTOR's remake is still happening, we aren’t sure exactly who is working on it. Embracer stated it was still publishing several Saber games, including a previously announced AAA game based on a major license. We assume this is the KOTOR remake.

When asked if they planned on releasing this ‘previously announced AAA game based on a major license’ within the next 12 months, Lars Wingefor's response suggested it’s at least a year away.
No, I think that kind of game needs some deep love and respect, so without giving full color, I think it’s some time left until that is released.

Other fans believe Knights of the Old Republic went with Saber in the split. However, Tim Willits, Saber’s chief creative officer, tweeted that Jurassic Park: Survival, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando are all still in development at Saber. There was no mention of KOTOR despite multiple people replying with questions about the Star Wars game.
This multimillion-dollar deal was supposed to bring balance to the game, not destroy it. We are in the dark yet again about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. If anything we will have to wait at least a year to see the remake released. Fans are getting extremely frustrated about the lack of information. Whoever takes over the project must make a spectacular game if they want to make up for it.
