ZZZ, or Zenless Zone Zero, will be the newest game by HoYoverse, the Chinese developer behind the giants Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, which is set to launch sometime in 2024.
Given HoYoverse’s record with making amazing open-world games, players are wondering if they will be taking the same approach with Zenless Zone Zero.
In this article, we’ll go over what we know so far about whether Zenless Zone Zero will be an open-world game or not.

Is Zenless Zone Zero Open World?
The short answer is, no!
ZZZ isn’t a traditional open-world game like Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves. Zenless Zone Zero is an instance-based game similar to games like Dungeon Fighter Online, Soulworker, and Honkai Impact 3rd.
In ZZZ you have a hub town that features a ton of NPCs that give quests, and let you interact with them. You can explore this town, and interact with the various objects inside it, but it does not classify as open-world.
You will not be able to explore the world just as you do in Genshin Impact.
Rather in Zenless Zone Zero, you are sent out on missions that transport you to different locations where you can use the characters that you have, just like other instance-based games.

Will Zenless Zone Zero Have an Open World In the Future?
As of now, there is no mention of an open-world mode being added to ZZZ, however, given that Honkai Impact 3rd originally started as an instance-based game and later on added several open-world areas, we might see an open-world mode being added to Zenless Zone Zero.
However, whether that will happen or not is something only HoYoverse knows and is highly dependent on whether they will want to take the game in this direction or not.
Another thing that we can expect is to see bigger, open world-like zones in the form of events, but that too will only be revealed after the game’s launch later this year.
