In their recent "Mid-Year Check-In" Dev Update video on July 28th, Riot Games unveiled more exciting features for League of Legends. Among the highlights were the upcoming Essence Emporium, the introduction of additional Wild Rift skins into the game, and a major development called Quick Play Mode, set to eventually replace Blind Pick.
Quick Play Mode is an upcoming game mode that allows players to choose their roles and champion combinations when they queue up. Unlike Blind Pick, this mode eliminates the lengthy champion select process, enabling players to dive straight into the game.
Originally planned for release before the mid-year patch, the developers had to delay Quick Play Mode due to focusing on other game updates. Priorities included the addition of the new rank tier "Emerald" for the upcoming ranked split and the creation of the 2023 Summer Event titled "Soul Fighter," along with the brand new Arena game mode. Consequently, Quick Play was put on hold temporarily.
However, players can look forward to its official release later this year, and once it goes live, it will permanently replace the traditional Summoner's Rift Blind Pick mode.
The burning question among players is when the Quick Play Mode will be available on live servers. According to Riot Brightmoon, it is expected to be ready during the League of Legends Preseason 2024, providing players with an innovative gaming experience.
Aside from Quick Play, Riot Games also introduced significant changes to the Ranked system in League of Legends. These changes promise a different experience for players as they climb the Solo Queue ladder, beginning with League of Legends Season 13 Ranked Split 2, which went live with LoL Patch 13.14 on July 19th at 12 PM CST.
Notably, player ranks underwent a partial reset with Split 2. However, this reset was accompanied by the introduction of the new rank tier, "Emerald." Exciting times await League of Legends players as they immerse themselves in these updates and changes to the game.
