Riot Games implemented significant changes to League of Legends with Patch 14.1, impacting aspects such as Ranked, Items, and more. Although much of this information was leaked beforehand, Season 2024 promises an exciting journey for players, introducing fresh metas and playstyles. In this guide, we will explore the alterations to the map and terrain on Summoner's Rift in League of Legends:
Lane Changes in Season 14
Top Lane Changes:
The alterations in LoL for the new season aim to limit the influence of other roles in the early stages of the game on the top lane, emphasizing 1v1 fighting.
The top bush will be relocated to a pixel in the center of the river, turning it into an optimal warding position and making it less potent for ganking.
LoL developers addressed the issue of the top laning phase ending too early due to Rift Herald often being dropped there by junglers. By pushing back Rift Herald, Riot Games intends to substantially reduce the volatility of the late laning phase in the top lane.
Mid Lane Changes:
Surviving ganks in Mid will be easier due to the bushes being pushed slightly back, creating more of a gap until the jungler can reach the midlaner. This will make more immobile champions more sustainable, resulting in an overall safer mid lane.
Bot Lane Changes:
With less gank potential in Mid, there is a compensatory increase in gank potential in Bot lane.
Similar to the top lane, the bush in the bot lane is moved to the middle of the lake, providing LoL players with more warding opportunities.
Bot lane introduces a new gank pathway through the bottom red jungle. The red side bot lane is now more vulnerable because it lacks the extra distance created by Dragon pit walls, giving less time to respond to action on vision or to slightly delay movement from the river.
Jungle Changes:
The paths toward the Dragon are broader, making it more easily accessible. These newly enlarged entrances will likely alter how League of Legends players approach the objective, making it easier to escape and join battles over the Dragons.

Baron Nashor Changes in Season 14:
The new Baron will not change the pit upon spawning, but it will still be quite dangerous, as each one gets a unique power:
- Hunting Baron: Calls a pillar of lightning over every nearby enemy.
- All-Seeing Baron: Summons rifts toward the two furthest enemies he can see within 2200 units.
- Territorial Baron: Grabs all enemies in a cone, pulling them 300 units and dealing magic damage.
Let's examine the three variations of the Baron pit in Season 14 of League of Legends:
- Hunting Baron Pit: The classic one we all know well.
- Territorial Baron Pit: The pit doesn't change much, but developers suggest LoL players don't group up and position themselves properly, as the new powers can be impactful.
- All-Seeing Baron Pit: This variation both opens up and closes space, making team fights quite challenging.

Void Changes in Season 14:
Baron will corrupt Summoner's Rift, spicing up the gameplay and changing the whole map.
Voidgrubs and Voidmites:
This new horde objective replaces the first Rift Herald in League of Legends. They can be taken down easily without the jungler being present too.
Three Voidgrubs spawn at 5 minutes into the game, with each one spawning 4 Voidmites every 12 seconds in combat. Voidgrubs can respawn once per match.
Killing one Voidgrub grants the player and allied teammates one stack of the Hunger of the Void Buff, causing non-proc attacks to deal bonus true damage to structures over 4 seconds. This damage can be scaled. Once you hit 5 stacks, the player will spawn 1 Voidmite to help when attacking towers. At 6 stacks, the amount of Voidmites is increased to 2.
Herald Rift:
You can now right-click the Herald to hop onto Shelly, also gaining the ability to choose where it starts charging. While charging, players can steer the Rift Herald.
If a nearby enemy tower or inhibitor is destroyed, Herald will receive an additional Charge. If a player steers the Rift Herald through enemies, they will take true damage and be knocked airborne.
Rift Herald now has Baron’s Gaze, reducing damage taken from the last enemy attacked by 50%. Empowered Recall is granted until the Eye is used. The Eye of the Herald will auto-cast with no channel time upon expiring. If your champion is currently dead, the Herald will spawn in your team’s fountain.
Voidborn Scuttler:
Scuttle Crab receives a dark makeover, becoming tankier, and releasing a burst of vision once it's killed.
Voidborn Sentinel and Voidborn Brambleback:
Voidborn Sentinel and Voidborn Brambleback have 30% more health and will be harder to kill. The buff they provide will apply to the whole team.
We hope these Patch 14.1 changes enhance your League of Legends gameplay without making it too challenging. Check out the full patch notes here.
