Champion Buffs

Ori

Orianna

While these Champs are undoubtedly strong for Elite players, some champ has to be the strongest. In regular play, these Champs are pretty balanced, so we're leaving them as is, rather than putting them back in a pro jail. They'll be a bit strong in elite for the last few patches of the year.

Orianna is anticipated to receive minor buffs in Elite play, potentially boosting her pick rate.

Syndra

Synda

Syndra is another champion preparing  for slight buffs to enhance her performance in Pro play.

Janna

Janna

We previously reverted a W cooldown buff last second in Dev, so we're restoring it here and adding a bit more punch to her harass. Overall, she's directionally looking better in her more interactive shape and will hopefully be in a better spot once she has the power to back that up.

The latest patch brought several significant changes to Janna, giving her a more aggressive edge. Developers are actively working to further enhance her threat level in the lane.

Riven

Riven

Buffs to improve her general power level, without committing her long term shape one way or the other (since she's very dependent on items, we're waiting to see how the item update affects her). This change is more oriented in buffing her spells.

It appears that the team has responded to player feedback, addressing concerns about Riven's performance. In response to complaints about her weakened state, she is set to receive minor buffs to her spells, aiming to compensate for her current shortcomings.

Trundle

Trundle

Trundle has been weak for a while, this buff looks to increase Sheen Synergies and make trading and pushing out waves in top lane less of a strain on his resources.

Trundle, having been out of the meta for a while, is expected to make a comeback in the Top Lane with the upcoming buffs.

Azir

Azir

Not mentioned here are the on hit changes to Azir. Check @MadnessHeroo Twitter for details.

W Attacks are expected to trigger on-hit effects on 50% damage value.

Vel'Koz

Vel'Koz

He's struggling in mid and supp, giving him a buff to P that rewards his core gameplay loop.

After months of complaints from the League of Legends community, issues with Vel'Koz are finally being addressed.

Draven

Draven

Draven's R is now going to return to him even if he is dead.

Champion Nerfs

Briar

Briar

A nerf to her early fighting power, as well as a slight nerf to her scaling. We're really happy with how she's turned out and are just continuing to make sure her power level is adjusted as players continue to get better on her.

Riot Games is planning another set of nerfs to Briar. Concerns arise about the possibility of rendering her irrelevant in-game, given her kit's capacity to easily punish mistakes, contributing to the champion's unique design philosophy.

K'Sante

K'Sante

Changes here are focused around reducing his ability to fight early levels with Q mana cost changes, moderate nerfs to his level 6 spike. Long term, we intend for K'Sante to have weaknesses against duelists (Camille, Fiora, Jax, Gwen, etc.) where he loses in both fighter and tank form. His strong level 6 was giving him too much leeway in these matchups, but his shape overall is looking promising. Through these Q nerfs, we're trying to make his tank form have a bit less damage, so he is not as threatening all the time and has more windows to play against.

K'Sante has been too powerful of an opponent recently. Devs are addressing this issue, nerfing his tank form.

Naafiri

Naafiri

While we intend for Naafiri to be a champion that's great for regular play, she's getting a bit too much throughput from her packmates (average players are less likely to play expertly around them when playing against her). We're reducing their strength here slightly to increase the relative importance of hitting Q to have success.

Naafiri is considered overpowered, especially in regular play. She's receiving a much-needed nerf by increasing the importance of successfully hitting her Q.

Jarvan IV

Jarvan IV

As mentioned yesterday, he's still too strong and been so for a while. With his Shojin builds, his Q is coming up a bit too often, which makes his windows of counterplay a bit too low. We're pulling back on some of this slightly.

Devs are reportedly considering a nerf for Jarvan, whose win rate heavily relies on the Goredrinker and Spear of Shojin build.

Ziggs

Ziggs

Our nerfs last patch didn't go far enough. They were intended to reduce the power of bot more than mid and while directionally accurate, the nerfs need more oomph behind them.

Having dominated the scene, Riot Games is prepared to make slight adjustments to him, even after a recent nerf in the last patch.

Turret Changes

Turret gold will be heavily adjusted as the overall meta and strategy will be greatly influenced by these changes. More split-pushing champions may see relevance and teams might start prioritizing sieging the enemy base instead of going for neutral objectives.

We’re making some changes to inner and inhibitor tower gold to give a higher share of the gold as local gold. Given snowballing is at one of the lowest levels right now, we think this will help put it in a more correct spot, while favoring roles like top lane that spend more time in the side lanes.

We want to add Snowball back, but in ways that set up the game for the long term. We think split pushing as a strategy is still weak relative to dragon stacking and are adding some more incentives to play intelligently on side. Adding gold back to these side lane objectives hopes to make this strategy more viable, even if top and mid are feeling a little strong right now.

  • Mid inner turret gold: 300 local + 50 global -> 425 local + 25 global
  • Side lane inner turret gold: 550 local + 50 local -> 675 local + 25 global
  • Inhibitor turret gold: 50 local + 50 global -> 375 local + 25 global
